This is the second hotel that we have stayed in Santiago, we also stayed at the Luciano K. We preferred Matildas to Luciano K.
Matildas Hotel is housed in an early 1900s French style mansion in the Barrio Brasil, about 20 minutes’ walk from the Plaza de Armas. Barrio Brasil is a formerly upper-class neighbourhood currently in the midst of a bohemian renaissance with many cafés, restaurants, and bars.
We had a huge suite (with terrace) overlooking the garden at the back of the building. The rooms and bathroom were clean and spacious, with exposed floorboards and many original decorative features.
The house has a quiet, understated and elegant feel, with beautiful common areas and a lovely staircase.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and had an excellent meal. Room service is also available (we had lunch on our terrace overlooking the garden). Breakfast is a combination of buffet and made to order and is excellent.
Service is limited and unobtrusive but more than adequate for a small boutique hotel.
We would definitely choose to stay here again.More
