Location and Access – Directly next to arrivals and departures at Santiago Airport. By car, 30 minutes or more depending on traffic, to central Santiago

Google Earth – The hotel can be seen on Street view

Architectural Style – Very modem low rise sitting in land/waterscaped grounds and at the moment in the middle of a massive construction site which will become the much-expanded airport terminal

Reception – Check in/out was dealt with efficiently and friendly by excellent English speaking front of house staff

Public Areas/Decor – Clean, ultra-contemporary and soulless

Guest Facilities – Various - including restaurant, bar, lounge areas, computer points, swimming pool and sauna

Guest Rooms – Many, ranged over 3 storeys in 2 blocks

Space – My room on the second floor was probably larger than the bijou apartment I had been renting in Santiago

Decor/Maintenance/Cleanliness – All was OK apart from a couple of pet hates including a long hair of a previous guest……….

Furnishing/Bed -Bed was king size + with comfortable mattress and pillows. Units for hanging clothes, safety box, small desk and chair, comfortable armchair and foot rest

Bathroom – Well equipped and modern with good powerful hot water supply (shower only no tub) separate WC

Amenities including Entertainment – large screen but poor definition TV with quite a few channels including some English language. Good wifi. Basic toiletries.

Tea and coffee making the worst of any Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in. First no kettle or tea - only a coffee maker supplied with one sachet of poor quality coffee and one sachet of powdered creamer. Paper cups and plastic drinking glasses. A notice advising that more supplies can be purchased from reception. No bottled drinking water in room. Mean and dismal

Lighting – As with all hotels many table lamps bed side lamps and standard lamps but artificial lighting was dim made more so by the dark decor, flooring and furnishing. Natural light from floor to ceiling windows

Heating/Air Conditioning – Adjustable controls

Noise – Under the flight path of landing aircraft and those taking off. But noise disturbance was minimal – but as I checked in/out when construction workers had not got going on the adjacent building site not sure how this would have been during the day

Food Offering – Standard fare and expensive and wine list not up to date. I had dinner and breakfast and had the latter not been included in the room rate I would have been very disappointed

Security – Building is very secure with some areas e.g. entry beyond reception and the pool only accessible using room entry card

Value for Money - Fair - But points lost for poor tea/coffee making in room

X Factor – The key attraction of the hotel is its location, a 2 minute walk only to Santiago International Airport arrivals and departures and provides a peaceful sanctuary away from the hub hub and stresses of the travelling World outside

My wife and I have travelled on long journeys through Santiago several times in the past few years and the Holiday Inn Airport Hotel has been a great place to layover. Checking in and out is quick and efficient. The staff are great and friendly. The food in the restaurant and the bar is good. The rooms are nice and modern. Internet is great. The location is ideal for early morning departures being only 100m from the airport terminal. My only gripe is that the hotel should provide a better breakfast spread for very early flights given that the airport operates 24 hours. Overall, it is the perfect layover hotel.

This is a modern, clean hotel just metres from the airport terminal. Rooms are well sound proofed and comfortable - in the main block the bathrooms have a combined bath & shower. The staff were fluent English speakers and very helpful with providing city travel options. Our booking didn't include breakfast & we didn't get a chance to use the indoor pool or bar.

Room Tip: If you want a bath (tub) make this request or you will be given a room with shower only.

I only stayed one night but found the hotel comfortable in every way and particularly the attention to detail, which made my stay very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and kind especially in resolving an issue with my travel agent. The restaurant had tasty well-prepared food at both supper and breakfast.

Booked an overnight stay here between flights on my return journey home.

Considered the cost, and the cost of traveling to another close 'airport' hotel (most others are about 5-7kms away) vs the city itself (20km away) and decided this would suit.

Check in was effortless, hotel room was big and sufficient. Bed comfortable, nice big TV.
Was given an extended 2 hours on my check out time without a fee which was great. Customer service was great.

My pet peeves
1. for such an expensive hotel, how hard is it to include breakfast in the fee? Yes I can pay an additional 25USD for breakfast, but your dinner menu is cheaper than that! And a continental breakfast would suit most travellers staying here (coffee, cereal, croissant?).

2. Room service - great room service menu, albeit fewer items than dining in their restaurant. The prices are only slightly off. I specifically rang reception and asked if I will be charged any other fees if I order room service, and specifically asked about a service fee. I was told no just what's on the menu, and they connected me through. I was charged a 10% service fee on my bill. Not happy with this.

Please print 10% service fee on your Room Service Menu to avoid this unnecessary confusion. I like to know what I'm paying for, and clearly your reception staff were unaware when I rang and asked them specifically about this.
Having said that, I had the Grilled Salmon and Mushroom Risotto with a glass of wine for which were superb.
