I stayed here for 2 nights before getting on a cruise ship. My flight got in about 1 AM. I got some money exchanged at the airport to pay for the taxi, etc. There were plenty of taxis at the airport and fortunately by taxi driver knew the way to the hotel. The only good thing that you can say about arriving at 1 AM is that there wasn't much traffic on the way to the hotel. Bencoolen Street in front of the hotel was totally tore up; but the taxi driver knew how to get to the hotel via the alley way behind the hotel. You can enter/leave the hotel by the back entrance too. It was about a 35 Singapore dollar including a tip (or about $25 USDs) taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. I booked a standard room, and got room 409 which was pretty small. Looking at the fire escape diagram (and if it was to scale) it appeared that most of the rooms were a little larger than mine. The view out the window in room 409 was just some space between 2 very close buildings. On the plus side the room was very quiet. The room did have all the basics including a full bath, room safe, and mini refrigerator. There wasn't a lot of room for anything else. The hotel is within walking distance to 2 different metro stations; Bras Basah (yellow line) and Dhoby Ghaut (purple line). Bras Basah is about 2 block walk and Dhoby Ghaut is about 4 block walk from the hotel. The yellow line interchanges with the purple line at Dhoby Ghaut. I walked to the Dhoby Ghaut station to go to Chinatown (2nd stop) one day and to go to Harbourfront (4th stop and where the cruise ship was) another day. The area between the hotel and Dhoby Ghaut is pretty nice (most of it is a college campus) and pulling a suitcase was easy. There were sidewalks, crosswalk signals, handicapped curbs, and an elevator at both stations, etc. The Harbourfront area included a large shopping mall.

The hotel's included breakfast was decent; however, not what I would call a "full American buffet". They had 6 buffet chafers with warm items, some cereal, some fruit, bread/toast, butter/jelly, fruit drink (not juice), and coffee/tea. The chafers had 1) sliced bologna, 2) fried eggs, 3) white rice, 4) baked beans, 5) spaghetti with some mushrooms and no sauce, and 6) something leafy stuff (maybe cabbage and/or bok choy). You had to run the bread through the toaster twice to get it toasted.

There were restaurants of various price ranges nearby including a Subway and 7-Eleven.

The elevator has a security feature that you have to insert your room card into it before it will go up to your room. I had a problem with it once where they had to re-program my card 3 times to get it to work. Also, do not turn off your room's air conditioner; to get it back on you have to have the front desk "reset it".

The hotel did have a "concierge guy" in the lobby was was very eager to help if you needed a taxi and/or directions on how to get anywhere, etc.

Hotel was good and centrally located. There was construction for the subway during our atay but it was not too bad and we did not hear anything in our room.

Pros.
Location is good.
Room is clean and big.
The internet is good enough.
Bathtub in the room.
Very friendly staff members.
Free refil of potable water for guests.

Cons
Breakfast buffet is a bit too repetitive.
More channels on the tv would be nice.

Booked a twin room for 7 nights but only stayed one night due to construction noise and lights; and the poor condition of the room. Did not get a very good nights sleep as our room overlooked the new MRT site - even the blinds would not stop light and flashing lights invading the room. The temporary breakfast room is adjacent to the construction site so not a pleasant experience. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and were quite understanding of our desire to stay elsewhere, charging us only for the single night. Perhaps things will improve in 2017 once the new MRT station opens.

What a massive disappointment this place turned out to be. The price was middle of the road, but the hotel was at the bottom end of ghastly.
To begin with, it was in the very middle of the enormous building site that is the new MRT station on the new line being constructed, which made it very difficult to get to, driving cabbies round the bend and taking ages in the massive queues. The location of the hotel, in normal times was good, very close to Orchard Road, and various MRT Stations. The reception staff, when we finally managed to get into the place seemed to be on their first day in the job and didn't really appear as if they knew what they were doing. The gentleman who was acting concierge did his best to make things run smoothly but, he was facing a losing battle.
The rooms, overlooking said building site in the road outside, were to say the least, tired (a large part of the bathroom door wood veneer was rotting where shower water had been splashing on it for who knows how many years), and it was all a bit dusty, but the sheets were clean.
There was a small plunge pool right in the heart of the building works but we decided to forego the pleasure.
Breakfast was an experience. It was held in a very hot, dirty, dusty corridor, formed by the building site barriers on one side and the outside of the hotel on the other. It smelt of exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke. The serving staff were despondent and less than helpful, and looked as if they would rather be almost anywhere else than there and, in that I have to agree with them! When I asked for a napkin, I was told that they don't use them here?! I did eventually manage to get a piece of kitchen roll.
So, I would have to say, don't stay here, at least not until the work is finished which, as the sign in the breakfast area tells you, will be over some time in 2017!

Room tip: None of them.

Small hotel and when we trevel, the main road was on under construction. So a little bit hard to find the hotel. But, when you go inside the hotel, the room was clean, the service was great, and near Brasbasah MRT Station (soon Bencoolen Station on 2017)
