My friends and I booked a one-night staycation for my birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the friend who made the booking under his name got warded into IMH. Few hours before he got warded, he sent a screenshot of the booking and after that none of us could reach out to him. To my understanding, phones are confiscated once you are warded. Another friend called the hotel and asked for advice. We wanted to know if it’s possible for us to either amend the dates, or if any of us could check-in on behalf of him considering we have all his information in the booking page. However, they pushed us to call Klook for it (which doesn’t make any sense because amendments have to be made by the hotel staff themselves. Nonetheless, I called Klook and explained to them the situation and even they said I should have called the hotel instead. On the day of check-in, I called the hotel again to explain the situation all over again. The staff (I don’t even bother trying to remember his/her name because he’s rude and condescending) said that I will need the doctor’s documents for prove. We tried calling IMH and asked to speak to our friend and even asked if we could talk to the doctor in-charge of him but we weren’t allowed to because it’s invasion of patient’s privacy. We tried so hard to explain and hoped that we could at least amend the dates to end of next month and by then when our friend got discharge, he can show the documents for proof. But the hotel’s staff was just plain rude and his verbiage was condescending, saying that he is in no position to believe whatever we just said. Why would we lie about someone getting warded to the mental hospital? It’s just bad service.
