Memorable birthday staycation!

The staff were friendly and the hotel was immaculate.
We stayed at Shangri-la Orchard from 9 to 11 July 2021.

We had to book timings for Buds, Splash Zone, pool access and even breakfast which can be annoying having to key in our details repeatedly.. but it's understandable given the current restrictions.
We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our son's birthday in advance. Entered the room to have a birthday card & cake for him. He even got a room call from the hotel wishing him happy birthday and if everything was ok. After having a blast at Buds & Splash zone.. of course it was perfect.

On the second day, my 4 year old son being a curious boy injured his thumb along the grooved wooden walls at level 1. We figured he had a splinter and he wasn't allowing us to get it out with whatever we have in the room (we had an option of a paper clip..lol).. so we called front desk for tweezer or nail clipper and 3 minutes later, Zoe and her colleagues came. She was excellent with my son. Knew exactly how to coax him so that he would let them take a look at his thumb. Fortunately for my son.. the "splinter" turned out to be a dark small bruise and all it took was the staff (sorry i didn't get your name!) in surgical gloves pouring a little bit of sterile water over the thumb and a plaster (and lollipop from Zoe) to feel better. Really appreciate it that they called to check on my son again about 2 hours later. We really apologise for the false emergency but that small incident had no doubt left such a good impression that we wouldn't think twice about visiting Shangri-La again. Every guest matters, even the littlest ones.

Hopefully Shangri-la management can convey this compliment to their colleagues that attended to my son on the afternoon of 10th July 2021 :)

Greetings from your friends from Room 758, VW.

First, we like to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the warm and friendly friends at Shangri-la who left a beautiful footprint in our 20th Anniversary celebration. To only name some (wish I cld remember and see clearly all of their name tags),
Aishah (thanks for the photo, and your colleague who brought us a cake),
Audrey,
Shamai,
Eileen,
Shamiral,
Bella,
Kharil (I think I might hv spelled his name wrongly, i do remember he is with the hotel for more than 20 years),
Raja (you said this place is your home and you are here to make us at home, I really like that),
The chef at Summit Room;
The uncle at the Pool who remembers that we requested bottled water at the pool the day before,
The house keepers, especially the one who did the turn down service on 7th Jul, who is so detailed in our preferences merely by observing the way we placed our toiletries.

The very helpful VW door man, from his accent he should be fr Philippines, who greeted and welcomed us on our arrival (6th July around 12noon) and A.M in Shang traditional uniform, who helped us with our baggage on our check-out.

We made the right and best choice to be there for our event. Despite not hving mentioned we were there for our 20th Anniversary at our reservation, we were delighted by the surprises that were arranged when we shared it with Aishah at check-in. We really love the spontaneous and sincere vibes that most of you carried with you during this difficult covid time.

Thank you once more and may all my friends there be Well Happy Peaceful.

Great staying experience! The view on the top floor was fantastic and the room was spacious and clean. Had a great time with my Fiancee at the Diner de Fleurs, great food preparation by Chef Ganesan, and service by Gerald. Will always remember the moment I proposed to my partner there, an awesome beautiful evening dinner.

Room tip: I stayed high floor, the view was great

I have been to many hotels for staycation during the pandemic period and I enjoyed the most in Shangri La. We throughly enjoyed the stay and service. Staffs are friendly and greets us without fail when walked pass us. Restaurant staffs are nice and friendly as well. Very premium and professional customer service. Will definitely come back again with kids next time.

Writing this without any ill intention, but just to share sincere feedback hoping that the management of Shangri-La Singapore would take my feedback for improvements.

Long story short, I ordered a Rose Veranda high tea set to be delivered as a birthday surprise to my friend late May 2021, but due to various operational hiccups which I did not expect to happen in a luxury hotel, my order was missed and was not delivered, despite myself following up with the hotel before the agreed delivery time, to which the PIC provided sound assurance that my order will be delivered as scheduled.

What was meant as a sweet surprise initially, turned sour as we ended up surprising ourselves that mishaps like this could happen with a 5 star hotel. While the team was very apologetic, a ruined experience is a ruined experience, and what really mattered to me was proactive rectification measures, which regrettably I think the team could do a lot better. Lots of follow-up was initiated from my end, which made me feel like a “Creditor” constantly “chasing”.

Compensation and refund were only granted upon persistent request, instead of coming instinctively from your team to pacify an upset customer and rectify the damages. While I’m genuinely thankful for the complimentary meal given as compensation, there were also hiccups which happened throughout the delivery which I had to follow up personally, as well as the refund process, which took almost a month to resolve after countless follow ups on my part!

I do not condone self-entitlement, but I trust a little goes a long way and I believe Shangri-La Singapore could definitely do better to provide the experience to customers who trusted its standards in service and hospitality. Looking forward to more pleasant Shangri-La experiences in future!

First of all, we would like to extend our most sincere apologies for the service lapses that you experienced during the order of your Rose Veranda High Tea set for your friend's birthday surprise. We are terribly sorry that such a surprise was ruined and it is definitely NOT something that a mere apology can make up for. It must have been very frustrating and stressful on your end because of these service lapses which resulted in you having to seek for an alternative birthday surprise option for your friend.

Such a service lapse and the lack of proactive rectification measures shown by our team is simply unacceptable and not the intended experience we wish our guests to have. Do rest assured that the relevant departments will look into this matter seriously to ensure that such similar incidents do not happen again.

Once again, we are terribly sorry for all the unnecessary inconvenience and frustration caused. While we are glad that the team has made the neccessary service recovery, we do agree with you that more could have been done on our end. Hence, we will take full responsibility on this matter and will learn from this. Thank you for the kind patience and understanding shown to our team during this period, we really do appreciate it.
