Thank you so much for the wonderful stay and the cupcakes for my wife's birthday. Usually I will write a very long review on TripAdvisor, but I will let you have my feedback now too.

Check-in
It took a little longer than expected and experienced with other hotels. Waiting time to be served was long, due to the check-in/out processes. I noticed your front desk spent a lot of time looking at their screen, typing. Also walking in and out of your back office for some thing. Maybe you should look into this part of the process to improve on the front desk productivity.

Rooms
It was lovely, glad that we were welcome with a pair of swans made up with bath towels. Thanks to housekeeping for the effort. I like the sofa by the window, i spent a lot of time sitting there looking out the window. Toilet amenities was alright, the toilet roll dispenser location was somewhat awkward and a reloction would help. Lacking of a bidet spray which was helpful to both genital hygiene of both men and ladies. In room entertainment was mediocre, perhaps some form of in house interactive game would be nice. The inclusion of usb ports to the room was a welcome feature, it allowed us to charge our electronic devices, but maybe a 2.1A or greater would be better.

All Day Dining
We had the pleasure of having breakfast there and also dinner (different occasion) at your Jen65. Compliments to the kitchen and chef. The variety was good and well mixed, presenting the flavours of Singapore food culture. It was unfortunate that I was having some indigestion and could not sample everything. Both Iin and myself liked the Laksa very much, the chicken rendang was so good, it tasted like the ones from Indonesia. Really authentic. The cold section, the smoked Salmon on the other hand, tasted on the other end of the spectrum. It was slimy and kind of disgusting. Maybe thinner and dryer slices would help (experience from other ADD). Maybe some food choice to consider that you can add or replace to the mix; fried carrot cake (check canton paradise), Curry Chicken, Braised Pork (dong po rou) with preserved veg (mei cai), Custard Lava pau, fried Cheese to better reflect our local food culture.

I hope my feedback gives you a good view of what's happening on the ground from a guest's perspective.

Life everything about this hotel. The new interior (formerly Traders hotel), the staffs, the room, the services, daily refreshment tea at the lobby.
Although i miss the Japanese section in the breakfast buffet, but it is still quite descent.

Especially thanking Mr. Param, the concierge, for his super hospitality; and Ms. Nurul, the Recept, for her big help for my late check out.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Jen in Tangalin many many times as it’s our corporate hotel of choice. As an executive and thirty year expat I have had the pleasure of staying in most of the worlds most prestigious five and six star hotels as well as seven star boutique hotels.
To this point, Hotel Jen has probably one of the best hotel operations teams in the industry.

Is this hotel perfect no, is it pure opulence, no, is it boutique, no , so what is Hotel Jen ?
It’s a very unique hotel where the staff are so proud and feel so part of the business that you be mistaken to think it’s their own business.

For example Evelyn who is the assistant front office manager who is an amazing employee, true professional and more importantly a genuine, kind natural affiliative leader who thinks out of the box to make things happen.
Well done Evelyn.

The Club Floor ladies, Emily, Nadia, Hidayah, Jasmine, Vanne are what can only be described as world class. They are genuinely friendly, always remember your name and address you respectfully. They make you feel like friends not hotel guests , they are very attentive and always looking out to ensure you are comfortable and provided for.
In short for what the club lounge food lacks these ladies certainly bridge the gap. Well done to you all.

The Executive Head Chef is James who is a remarkable gentlemen. He is a great listener and is totally driven by success and cares deeply about what people think of his cuisines. He also takes complaints and suggestions very professionally. He is not defensive in any way and will go the extra mile to ensure things are right.

The rooms are funky and functional , they are not large, but they are very comfortable and immaculately clean.

Facilities are good and what you would expect from a Shangri-La owned hotel. It has several restaurants, many large and purpose built function rooms , bar / pub and a great little coffee shop.

Finally Kana who is Concierge/ BA, he is an amazing gentleman, always greets you by your name ( if you are known to the hotel ) always gets your doors to and from a car, always ensures your luggage is safe and never expects anything. A true professional and has the upmost responsibility in my view as he is the first and last face you see, which sets the tone and memory of Hotel Jen.

Ok so I have one significant improvement areas !!

Firstly, they must cook eggs up on the club floor, sending down to the main restaurant is not working, in fact it’s failing badly and really does take the shine of one of the best club floors atmospheres in the business. All they need is an eggs station in club.
I have had so many incidents where my breakfast order for poached eggs have taken over 45 mins for a product that takes 3-5 mins to cook.
Root cause, they only have one person cooking eggs and omelettes in the main restaurant and they only have one single cooker ring to do it on, with about 500 guests !!

And finally what really makes this hotel special is Jen herself ! I hear you ask Jen ?
Yes Jen is a robot that delivers room service snacks directly to your room from the lobby to every single room in the hotel. She even talks to you :) Brilliant !!!

Hotel a short distance from Botanic Gardens. Staff helpful and friendly. Room comfortable, bench settee in window bay discovered ironing board and iron stored in draw underneath. Bathroom very compact walk in shower takes up half of room. Enjoyed our stay. Breakfast offered variety of cuisine. Shopping Mall behind hotel offers a variety of places to eat , supermarket, cake shops and local shopping. Preferred this to the other malls that had shops you see in all big cities theses days.

If you pay peanuts you get monkeys. I paid for the club room with free meals but even so I don't really like it. I was deliberately given a room next to the cleaner's and every day from 7 am to 4pm it was very noisy with the bangs, inane chatter and all. The floor wasn't well-swept either, the dust from the bottom of the bed from past occupants shows up, and even the sink couldn't be cleaned properly when I called for the cleaner and she said it was done.

If you are a budget traveller from any Western country with no self-respect and willing to pay top dollar for monkeys nevertheless thinking it's all good then go ahead. Why don't many South Koreans and Japanese stay here or even review? Because they take one look and don't think it's good. I chose it out of tight bookings in the area - my first time in Singapore - and it was a bad deal. Duty Manager Clarence and the Vietnamese and Filipino waitresses need to learn how to respect customers and improve their sense of professionalism too.

Room Tip: Don't do it. Take the luxury hotels next to it.
