The room needed some renovation. I guess it has started because the room smelled of paint when I arrived. Some paintstains on carpet and on bedcover. Lack of warm water in the shower. Nice beds and view. Good and helpful staf in lounge area. Gym was ok.

Novotel Hotel Clarke Quay Singapore
Recently stayed 4 nights, one week ago, as they had a special offer for Accor members, book an executive room which was large and newly modernized with all the amenities , had a room facing the Singapore River and a view of all happening along the river line, river tour boats, pub and food outlet,
Though hotel has been running a number of years now, overall upkeep was good, rooms was in good size, décor very up market with a separate bathtub and rain shower area, aircon great, but supplied pillows are badly need of change as it has become lumpy leading to a uncomfortable night rest, outside view was also badly marred due to moldy and dirty windows unable to be clean largely due to a design fault of having double glass for soundproofing, however as the room came with a balcony one can request to have the door unlock for an al fresco feel of the surrounding below,
Another gripe is that internet was chargeable @ US$ 8 per hour and US$ 25 for a day, in these days and age of communications needs, I am sure the hotel can look into this area to provide free wireless internet if not 24/7 at least maybe one hour per day without charges but free internet can be obtain at the lobby area where you may have to line up just to check your emails etc.
Staffs service was excellent as expected, being part of an international hotel chain, they seems generally friendly and do go a step further to make one’s stay as pleasant as possible.
Location is one of the strongest points of the hotel, as all major food centers offering low to end high items, best fine dining, pub clubbing, along the riverside or best hawker food are all within walking distance to no more than 5mins to 15mins max to the destination of your choice and a 24 hours mini market chain name 7 Eleven, MacDonald and Starbuck just on the left side of the hotel. The hotel itself is located within a shopping center and the hotel lift has direct access to the shopping mall.
Another plus point is that the Singapore’s mass transport systems are just 5mins walk across a river bridge located just round the corner. The MRT station name Clarke Quay can be access thru a mall name Central whereby you can travel to anywhere you want to go in Singapore and beyond without the need of the of taxi service.

Room Tip: book an executive room facing the river or Singapore marina bay

The location (as everyone says) is what makes this Novotel stand out. Fabulous. Out the door and you're right on Clarke Quay. Family of four can comfortably stay (even with two extra beds) in the executive rooms. The bathroom was big too, with extra large shower and shower over bath. Great for everyone getting ready in the morning. Pool was nice & big and shared with the Somerset hotel next door. Breakfasts were 'good'. Shame there was no fresh milk in the room's mini (very small mini fridge) - just creamer - that's very old fashioned & just not nice in tea! However called room service & they brought fresh milk up in a small jug quite quickly.
Restuarants are reasonable, however if you want to eat outside, there's Starbucks for coffee & breakfast by the entrance lobby. There's a shopping mall that's below the hotel. Here you'll find Mc Donalds if that's your thing, an up market burger place & decent pizza where you can bring a takeaway back to the hotel if you have young children. Clarke Quay for adults is brimming with fab restuarants and bars. There's also a wonderful Japanese supermarket in the basement of the shopping mall that's below the hotel. Authentic, so make sure you grab some goodies to take home!
There's a small entertainment area for the children with an xbox - Nobody seemed to be monitoring the use though, so some children hogged it, whilst their parents just let them get on with it.
Still don't know why wifi is chargeable, you can use the lobby where there are five computers that provide free access.
Definitely come back next time we visit Singapore.

Room Tip: Twin exec are nice & big for a family of four.
