As someone who appreciates artfully curated spaces, I have to applaud the hotel mgt. for creating a space with top-notch contemporary elegance infused with the vibrancy and lush of Singapore. It's a beautifully designed space. Great downtown eastern views from the rooftop infinity pool and the rooms are modern with automated fuxtures, extremely clean, and sleep quality is a 10/10.
The hotel is located in a quiet, upscale area but is still very accessible straddling the famous Orchard area, the beautiful botanical gardens, and a neighbourhood of diplomatic missions. The location is perfect if the noise and bustle are not your thing.
Service all around and from pretty much every staff member encountered has all the trappings that you would expect from a 5 star hotel -very attentive and responsive. I forget the name of both night attendants but want to give them a special shout-out for excellent and detailed service. I arrived very late on my check-in day and was very irritable from a long journey, my check in attendant remained so professional despite my annoyance at some glitches with the booking where the system did not honor a package deal which I had booked ( package included breakfast but was not reflected in the booking).
Now to my gripes:
1. It's a new hotel, but they need to pay close attention to the bathroom. The drainage was so loud every time I turned on the faucet. Additionally, the hot water in the shower quickly lost its high heat ( some like the heat). Finally, for a new hotel, the shower stall is ageing poorly. The tiles look older than they should.
2. The reason I dropped a star is the so-called complimentary car service, where guests can 'grab' a complimentary mercedes drive to destinations within 1.5 miles. I have used the word 'grab' because the system works like a luck of the draw. Every time I asked to use the driver, he was not available. I'm ok with that. However, what I found inconsistent is that first, I was not informed of the service during check-in, secondly, at my first attempt to 'grab' the driver who was in full sight, sitting behind the wheel, and 'waiting', I was informed that other guests had 'grabbed' him, the guests were nowhere in sight. When I enquired further, I was informed that the guests were still having drinks! Obviously, this is not a grab service because the next day when the driver was off to lunch, no 'waiting' courtesy was extended to me after
he returned, despite me asking for the service upon his return. It didn't sit well with me, I just hope that all guests are being treated the same here.
Overall, I had a great stay here and recommend the hotel to the discerning traveller.
