As the manager repeated on each time I complained 'this is a budget hotel'. Budget in this area of Singapore means that guests are not to be listened to or spoken to like a human being. Budget hotel in this area of Singapore means a place to take your budget prostitute. The room we finally got in the place was ok (The first had an electric drill hidden in the crawl space, the second was an apparently non-smoking room in a non-smoking hotel that came with complementary smoke smell, ashtray and cigarette burns in the sheets, the third had enough mould in the bathroom for a decent funghi pizza, complementary ants and was near enough to the street to hear the cries of 'me love you long time') but was lacking in some of the basics that you would expect in any hotel. The rooms were very small. This wouldn't have mattered (this was a budget hotel after all) but as there was no-where to put your bags it was difficult to get into the room once the bags were in there. There was nowhere to actually take anything out of your bags to store it - no furniture whatsoever except for the bed. This meant an intricate game of tetris, stacking bags in the hallway to get to the bag you need something out of positioned so you could open it and change without letting passers by see your bum. Anyway enough about the room, this is a budget hotel after all. The staff were unbelievable. But not in the friendly caring way you might expect in Singapore. Firstly you need to pay for each night in advance basically so you don't do the dirty with your chosen lady of the night and leg it afterwards. Unfortunately as I was staying there with my girlfriend I was treated as a sex tourist from the start. After explaining to the receptionist the reasons that each of the rooms we were given were unsuitable, the manager was called. Not the manager of the hotel we were staying in, but the manager of a hotel round the corner that had the same owner. Fair enough except the guy had no people skills whatsoever and laughed in my face upon hearing my complaint and began to stick his neck out and raising his voice. I asked for my money back for the night that we'd paid for which was 'against hotel policy' and (you guessed it) 'this is a budget hotel'. We did of course leave and found somewhere else to stay and the following day managed to get a refund after a few calls to the owner. The whole experience was terrible and was something I wouldn't want to repeat. Don't let the hotel name fool you - stay elsewhere.
