My first time in Boracay unfortunately coincided with the onset of the monsoon season - no world-famous sunset, howling winds and overcast skies. But I am glad that my friends and I stayed at Zuzuni, a boutique hotel located somewhere in Station 1 but not too far away from the conveniences at Station 2's d'mall.
Since their loft rooms were still occupied when we arrived, we were transferred to a Premiere Beachfront accommodation. In retrospect, this was a blessing in disguise as our room had a balcony that provides spectacular 24/7 ocean views. It is a very Boracay cliche I know, but the view never gets old every single time.
But if you want to shield yourself from the relentless Habagat winds, there's no shame in just staying inside Zuzuni - comfy rooms for 3 or 4 (I think any number more than this might be too much for the room's size), strong wifi for your FB updates and La Cozina, a Spanish-themed restaurant by the lobby that serves the paella of my dreams.
A stay in Zuzuni is definitely not dirt-cheap but it's not obscenely expensive. For all its luxurious amenities, I realize that this chic boutique hotel in this side of Boracay is worth of every penny and every second of your stay there.More
