On 13th November, we check-in and the card fare my wife. Credit card in amount of IDR 6.000.000,-. They said that amount will be cancel when we check-out, apparently its not. We already check to citibank, the customer service said it still not cancel by kempinski..Until I write this review we still not received the money yet..

Big star hotel but with poor administration procedure and under knowledge staff.. Better they ask cash money for deposit if they cant used the EDC machine right...

The hotel building is quite historic as the first international class hotel in Indonesia, built 50 years ago. A couple of years ago, they did a huge multi-year renovation, which has fully modernized the hotel, but for some reason they did not update the exterior, which looks like an ugly 60s era monstrosity.

Location is excellent being connected to a huge upscale mall, and across the street from the Grand Hyatt, which is also connected to another large upscale mall.

My room looked just like the website photos, which have an elegant look with a bit of bordello kind of style to it. Room is equipped with an ipod dock, but for reason the device said that it was not compatible for charging my iPhone. Bed was comfortable, although bordering on the hard side. LCD TV was large, made by a local company, but of good picture quality; however, there was no DVD player. Overall, the room is a little short on electrical outlets, with only 1 that includes an international adapter.

The Minibar fridge had sensors under each drink can/bottle. The wardrobe/closet was very small, ok for a short trip, but not enough space for a longer trip. Bathroom has a large tub and separate shower, and auto Toto toilet.

Lobby lounge was very smokey in the evening. Breakfast restaurant has a large varied selection that alternates every other day, although the taste was kind of average. The hotel bakery/cake shop is actually located in the mall, with limited operating hours. Similarly, the German brewhouse is slightly separated from the actual hotel itself, requiring short walk outside.

The gym and pool are located on the rooftop. Neither is very large, but still large enough. The changing rooms/sauna/steam are also adequate, but not very large or extravagent.

Overall service level is excellent and the entire hotel is well maintained and clean. However, the old structure has a sort of ramshackle floorplan layout, as if one building was added on to another, and then another addition was attached yet later again.

Room Tip: You get a better view if you face the fountain/monument.

One of the nicest hotels i have stayed at. From check in which went smoothly, beautiful room with a bath the size of a small family swimming pool. Really tastefully furnished. A really good gym, pool, free wifi (argh so annoying to get slugged for wifi in 2012). Really hard to find something negative to stay.

There is a bit of traffic noise, nothing too major unless you are a very light sleeper, but thats because it is perched over one of the central roundabouts of jakarata. But the flip side is you can while away the hours watching families navigate 8 lanes of traffic to get to the central fountain and back out again. Like a Frogger game but for real.

Really liked the hotel. Its definitely not the cheapest and there are other very nice hotels in this city, but salute to the staff and designers of this very impressive hotel. (the hotel im staying at now on the other hand.....)

I just got back from Xiamen china kempinski from 33 nights. I had a 2 night stay in Jakarta before traveling back to my factory in Central Java. I can't tell you how poor of an experience I had. I knew my gha memembership might be delayed a few days so I emailed gha and kempinski asking to please expedite the black benefits. This didn't seem to get me anywhere. I was constantly arguing with staff about all of this. Somewhere "deep" in the computer is some note but nobody seems to find it without me wasting 10 minutes explaining.

The rooms are nice. The decor is standard kempinski. The service is horrible. Most of the employees just seem tired and this is nothing like you'd expect from a 5-star.

The restaurant is another disaster. The buffet is ok but there is a lot of food that is cold. I thought maybe a small mistake the first day, but both days the chicken saugage was cold. The dinner buffet was ok....nothing to really complain about but the service was horrendous. I had to ask that 6 plates be removed from my table. I don't care that they had a birthday party that night either. Hire enough staff or close the restaurant.

I will not be back to this kempinski ever. There are too many other great hotels to choose from.

On top of this......some Saudi stopped me in the elevator and said for me to lock my stuff in my room. Someone had requested a copy of his key card and then went to his room and stole a bunch of stuff. And it was all on CCTV and he was just back from security where they watched the thief get the card and go to this guys room. The man was just pissed and ranting to me that this could happen here. He was on the way to the police now.

Between my membership problem, the poor service, the bad restaurant, and the weird elevator thief story, I'm not coming back. The kempinski chain should be embarrassed their name is associated with this horrible management.

Large rooms with updated facilities. The executive floor provides great service all day long. 17th floor gym and pool are very well done, bit small but roof top view is fabulous. restaurant has good international fare, a bit expensive as most hotel restaurants are,

Room Tip: higher floors will be quieter
