I decided to make a quick trip to Hong Kong with my grandma after graduation obviously not taking into account that it's humid rain/thunder storm season but anyway I wanted a hotel close to shopping areas and this is exactly where Xi Hotel is. It's located in Tsim sha tsui about 45 mins from the Hong Kong airport (300 hkd taxi ride - taxi fare + 30 hkd Lantau link toll fare + baggage of 6 hkd/pc).

Xi hotel is what I would call a boutique hotel. It's a small hotel. The check in counter is more so a desk set up in the lobby. I was helped by May when I checked in. I originally booked a standard room (~ 91$ usd/ night) but was upgraded to a deluxe room with a king size bed. I arrived at 12pm and hoped for an early check in (normal check in is 1pm, checkout 12pm). Normally there would be a charge (~660hkd) for early check in but May was nice enough to waive the fee. Thanks May! Like any other hotel they ask for a credit card/cash to charge 1000 hkd deposit in the case of incidental fees.

The room was cast modern looking. Like the pictures show, walls are a brownish color, bed of course is all white. There is a small sitting area attached to the bed. What I loved is that the room is very electronic friendly. There's outlets everywhere. There's also what I thought was a charging pad on the desk with a bunch of USB outlets to charge things. I absolutely loved the bathroom as well. There is a removable showerhead as well as a rainfall showerhead set up in the middle. What was a little weird at first is you can see into the hallway of your room from inside the shower and anyone in the hallway could see you.

An added bonus is the handy phone the room had. It's pretty much an iPhone set up with wifi capabilities. You're supposed to be able to search things, purchase tickets etc and take it with you as it go. You're also supposed to be able to make local and international calls as well. Using it is free of charge and the only charge you incur is if you lose or damage the device from what I read from the brochure. I thought it was pretty call I could call home in the US with it but haven't yet tried it.

Overall my first night in Xi Hotel has been great and I definitely recommend it!

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a room on the 15th floor. The room itself, although small, was perfectly adequate. It included a double bed, TV, bathroom - shower and toilet only, fridge/mini bar, hanging space and bedside table. An air conditioner is also in the room.

We took a taxi both to and from the hotel and it cost around 300HKD (£30) each way. Check out is 24 hour so when we had to leave to catch a flight at 4am, it was no problem. Scotty had booked us a taxi for 4.15am and it was waiting for us when we got to reception. Check out took seconds.

The location is good, off busy roads which means it can get noisy - cars beeping and the like. Some soundproofing would be good.

Housekeeping visited daily and kept the room clean and tidy. Breakfast is the same everyday, toast, pastries, sausages, hash browns, bacon, cereal, yoghurt and fruit. Plenty of choice even if it is a little repetitive. It is a buffet style breakfast so you just help yourself.

The hotel is modern, clean and only a couple of minutes walk to Nathan Road/MTR so perfectly located.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of a trip around China.

Pro's

- Centrally located so we were able to walk to most attractions
- Hotel room was clean and modern
- Staff were helpful and friendly and spoke English

Con's

- Our room smelt of damp
- The room was a bit on the small side - however this wasn't a big issue as we weren't in our room much

Overall, a nice hotel which is conveniently located in Hong Kong.

We stayed 10 days at Xi Hotel recently, the location is great, only minutes away from the subway, and train stations. The facility is clean and modern. Front desk, housekeeping and breakfast services are welcoming, responsive and efficient. We certainly will return. Highly recommended!

Room tip: Ask for higher floors to avoid street noise

We had a nice sized room, ensuite shower and toilet. Complimentary water daily and kettle with tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was most adequate and buffet style. Only complaint really is the air con is inefficient and leaves the bedding feeling damp. We had a dehumidifier going permanently in the room also. Staff we friendly and helpful. Bar was not open during our stay but you on a road with bars anyway. Windows fantastic at keeping out city noise.
