Excellent place for budget traveler

Review of Dragon Hostel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 May 2012
I stayed here on the recommendation of HK expert Bradjill.

I had trouble finding the entrance to the hotel. Look for the sign for Spanish Hourly Hotel, meaning you've gone a bit too far east on Argyle from A21 bus or MTR. The entry is on NE corner of the building.

Also there is another Dragon Hostel on 14th Floor, go to 7th.

This is a place where you should reserve well in advance. Cash only for nights after the first one.

Steven, the night manager, speaks English well and is a great guy; very friendly.

There are 2 free computers in the office to use.

The rooms are small and spartan, but the place is clean. No problem in and out, any time. Elevators are busy, sometimes I took the stairs.

Ladies Market is steps away, Langham Place is a sight to see, Goldfish Street, Flower Market and Bird Park are nearby, as is Temple Street Night Market.

I like to walk, so I'd often do so from TST, it takes about 45 minutes.

As other reviewers stated, it's steps away from the MTR and many bus lines. I highly recommend purchase of an Octopus Card, it is very convenient.

Dragon Inn is what it is: A well located cheap place to stay in a very expensive city that is friendly, clean and safe.

Can't get any better with a hostel in the heart of Mongkok. Very vibrant night life, shopping is everywhere and my oh my the street food. Only a few minutes walk to Mongkok MTR. Rooms are small but you'll get what you pay. If you'll only be spending your time in the hostel/hotel sleeping, don't bother paying so much and opt for this instead. Recommended!

Dragon Hostel Hong Kong

+Close to Langham Place shopping mall and Ladies/Lady-market.
+Cheap to have someplace to sleep.
+Computer with free internet.

-Very small room/bathroom.
-The bed is like sleeping on the floor.

This is a hostel, not a hotel.

My cousin and I went to HK last March 7-10, 2012 and stayed at Dragon Hostel. If you're looking for a fancy accommodation, this ain't the place for you. The rooms are small but cozy, really (really) small bathrooms that has reliable hot and cold water, and the aircon units work well. I have to give them credits as well for the fast internet connection even inside our room.

The location is great. We just walk going to their MTR that takes us anywhere in the city. There's a food stall near it that's called MANKEE that has great authentic HK street food. It's open even during the day. Dragon Hostel is near all establishment that a tourist is looking for.

You might want to pick up some basic Cantonese words before going here, the staff doesn't speak English. Also, bring your own plug converter for your chargers, laptops, etc.

Dragon is located 5 minutes from Mongkok MTR. It is also situated reallt near the Ladies Market, Electronic Market and Sports Market.

Also near a lot of places to eat.

The owners and people in the front desk are not warm but they are ready to help you. The provide free storage for your luggage on the same day and offer discount tickets to Hong Kong attractions.

Small room but okay for a short visit.

Room tip: Get the one with a private toilet. It's just a few bucks of difference

Wasn't sure to expect for my first time to Hong Kong. It was a last second weekend trip. They were one of the few places that had availibility left. I got the single room with shared bath. The room is very small, no window, and the wall paper peeling. There's barely enough room to open a suitcase. If you are expecting the Four Seasons hotel than this place is not for you. Hong Kong is outrageous when it comes to hotel prices and the rooms are still small. The room and shared bath were very clean. To be honest spent almost no time in the room. The staff was helpful with everything. The wi-fi is better than most major hotel chains. There is also 2 computers in the lobby you can use. The location is fantastic right in the heart of Mangkok, next to shopping and great restaurants. I hired a guide for the day and they told me that the location was one of the best in the city.

Tip: If you are coming from the airport print out the paper on their website. Take the bus and it will drop you off about 2.5 blocks away.

I know have my favorite place to stay in Hong Kong!!
