Dragon Hostel Hong Kong

+Close to Langham Place shopping mall and Ladies/Lady-market.
+Cheap to have someplace to sleep.
+Computer with free internet.

-Very small room/bathroom.
-The bed is like sleeping on the floor.

This is a hostel, not a hotel.

My cousin and I went to HK last March 7-10, 2012 and stayed at Dragon Hostel. If you're looking for a fancy accommodation, this ain't the place for you. The rooms are small but cozy, really (really) small bathrooms that has reliable hot and cold water, and the aircon units work well. I have to give them credits as well for the fast internet connection even inside our room.

The location is great. We just walk going to their MTR that takes us anywhere in the city. There's a food stall near it that's called MANKEE that has great authentic HK street food. It's open even during the day. Dragon Hostel is near all establishment that a tourist is looking for.

You might want to pick up some basic Cantonese words before going here, the staff doesn't speak English. Also, bring your own plug converter for your chargers, laptops, etc.

Dragon is located 5 minutes from Mongkok MTR. It is also situated reallt near the Ladies Market, Electronic Market and Sports Market.

Also near a lot of places to eat.

The owners and people in the front desk are not warm but they are ready to help you. The provide free storage for your luggage on the same day and offer discount tickets to Hong Kong attractions.

Small room but okay for a short visit.

Room tip: Get the one with a private toilet. It's just a few bucks of difference

Wasn't sure to expect for my first time to Hong Kong. It was a last second weekend trip. They were one of the few places that had availibility left. I got the single room with shared bath. The room is very small, no window, and the wall paper peeling. There's barely enough room to open a suitcase. If you are expecting the Four Seasons hotel than this place is not for you. Hong Kong is outrageous when it comes to hotel prices and the rooms are still small. The room and shared bath were very clean. To be honest spent almost no time in the room. The staff was helpful with everything. The wi-fi is better than most major hotel chains. There is also 2 computers in the lobby you can use. The location is fantastic right in the heart of Mangkok, next to shopping and great restaurants. I hired a guide for the day and they told me that the location was one of the best in the city.

Tip: If you are coming from the airport print out the paper on their website. Take the bus and it will drop you off about 2.5 blocks away.

I know have my favorite place to stay in Hong Kong!!

I have been going to HK for different types of visit and most of these trips were spent in hotels as I was not "that" budget-conscious before....but hey, times change and I must say that practicality got the best of me....Hence, looking for a comfortable, perfectly located budget hostel came easy soon as I discovered Dragon Hostel. Very convenient to make a booking from Manila coz they have a local bank account where deposit can be made. And voila!...your booking is confirmed and nothing to worry about from then on. Steven and Stanley were so helpful and attentive. Made our stay fuss free. Even let me borrow the hairdryer for a while without a deposit charge (just make sure you return it soon after usage!)...shhhhhh...Great discounted price for Disney tickets too!...complete with detailed directions on how to take the MTR to Disneyland!...
Our group had a great time as the location is superb...just a few steps away to the night market/ladies market...though all around the area of Mongkok is a shopping hub as it is....we just go in and out anytime we want....
I would suggest arranging for a minivan pick-up and drop off at the airport! :-p
Not advisable for claustrophobic people! :-D

Room tip: Make an advance booking :-)

We recently had a guest stay at the Dragon Hostel, a place we have been regularly recommending to budget-minded friends and visitors to Hong Kong since we stayed there back in 2005. At that time we found Dragon Hostel to be a standard hostel/guesthouse that met all of our basic requirements for cleanliness, noise levels, safety, security, location and price. This is something difficult to find in Hong Kong, especially now with the present hotel room shortages we regularly have.

Since the time of our stay in 2005, we have have guests stay at Dragon on a number of occasions and little has changed, including our last guest in December 2011. Dragon Hostel has remained a consistently very good option and one that we remain comfortable recommending for those wanting to visit Hong Kong.

To avoid repeating many specifics, we suggest reading the review written by fellow Hong Kong Destination Expert, asiatravel24 from 10 January 2012, titled 'An Oasis in Mong Kok'. He sums up the Dragon Hostel experience quite well and in the same manner that most of our guests have felt about staying here over the past seven years.

Hint: Dragon Hostel is quite popular these days and is fully booked much of the time. In the past, our guests have been able to book them within a week or so before coming to HK. Now, that is very often not possible because of their popularity. Thus, we suggest emailing/calling them to reserve a bed well in advance of your intended visit to Hong Kong.

Room tip: Don't try to arrive in Hong Kong and find a room at Dragon Hostel, which is now regularly booked up well in advance. Best to reserve at least several weeks prior to arriving in HK.
