Description: The no reservation tapas bar 22 Ships has become one of Hong Kong hottest tables since opening in October 2012 - offering an eclectic menu of modern tapas, served in a buzzy yet relaxed setting, and a dynamic list of sherries, wines, spirits and Spanish beers. Using the best of both European and Asian ingredients, Michelin-star Chef Jason Atherton and 22 Ships’ Executive Chef Lee Westcott bring a modern touch to traditional classics. Westcott, who has strong a Michelin background and has worked with acclaimed chefs such as René Redzepi at Noma, was Head Chef at Tom Aikens Restaurant in London before taking up his role of leading the kitchen at 22 Ships

We read about this restaurant online and it was only 5 minutes from our hotel. A great atmosphere! It was packed, and had a lively feel. An excellent selection of dishes, particularly the bone marrow, and it also accommodated vegetarians very well! We loved it so much we went back the next day for lunch to try some of the specials. Were very surprised at the reasonable pricing for drinks and dinner.

This is a funky, friensly and lively tapas bar located in Start Street, Wan Chi. Star street is lined with fresh and funky restaurants and bars, and is always a great place to meet friends and enjoy the food.
22 ships was buzzing when we visited (it doesnt take bookings, so you may have to wait for 20-30 minutes before a table becomes available) and we were asked to wait 20 minutes, and enjoy a drink at the rear bar of Ham & Sherry (there sister restaurant) whilst we waited. When our table became available, they sent a staff member down the road (approx 50 metres) to grab us. Our table was great, just inside the front door, so we had airflow and air conditioning on a sticky night. The food was fantastic with the tuna tartate and the charizo being the stand outs. The food is full of flavour and is designed to share with friends. The wine is a little expensive but quite nice just the same. We went with friends and had a great meal and would really recommend this restaurant for anyone wishing to enjoy great casual food whilst in Hong Kong.

This is a modern tapas restaurant in it's widest sense meaning that you share a number of small mains and they are not all Spanish but rather modern European. We had two chairs at the bar/cooking area which added to the entertainment, as many of the dishes was prepared in front of our eyes. The slow cooked lamb shoulder was excellent and so were the other dishes like beetroot salad with goats cheese and mini sliders. You will need 2-3 dishes per person. Friendly service and very busy. Highly recommended.

I first came here accidentally when it first opened 3-4 years ago. It was already buzzy, crowded and very good. Glad to say it's still the same

I had the opportunity to arrive at 6 when it opens so got a great corner counter seat. This place becomes full at 645 so prepare to wait

Got my wine within 1 minute of order. Pitied the other reviewer who didn't. Alas this is 1 of those places that offer "still or sparkling" only, without full disclosure they also offer tap. And i got a giant 1 litre bottle of still water. Did i look just finish a marathon and looked really thirsty? My tip to the maitre'd is to never recommend a giant bottle of expensive water for a solo diner. This kind of bad profit is not worth it

Ordered the jamon and truffle toastie. It was good, but no truffle taste. Then had the peas, goat curd and serrano , which was also good. I think most of the dishes in the "vegetables" section has meat so vegetarians beware. There were 3 egg dishes and i got recommended the slow cooked egg with mash and mercilla. After tasting it, i think i would have preferred the other 2. Also the mercilla was hard and tough to chew at times

Service was attentive. The chef/waiter at the counter slowed down my 3rd dish as he guessed i needed a break

Wanted to try the seafood and meat dishes but was so full. Portions are large. Will return

Thank bcheong
