The second half of the trek is pretty boring.
The first half provides stunning views. The green cover is pretty low. So, the scorching heat is the only issue

The Dragon’s Back trail is an easy one, suitable for beginners. The views were wonderful, and I was lucky that the weather was great. Ended the hike at Big Wave Bay, which has a nice relaxing feel. There were buses at both start and end point, which makes it convenient.

We did the entire hike from the road near Stanley to Big Wave Beach which as best I can tell includes the entire Dragon's Back and some of the Hong Kong trail. It was about 5 1/2 miles and not as easy as others have said. We are pretty experienced hikers and used to mountain trails and this was steeper and more strenuous than others have written here. Perhaps it is where you choose to start. We relied on Uber from Stanley Beach and it takes a bit before you see Dragon's Back trail signs. Big Wave Beach is beautiful also, then you can get a bus or more frequent mini bus back to MTR.

The hike is pretty easy and short. The views on the way are amazing and the hike ends at a beach. Ideally a half day trip.

This is a great hike with fabulous views, although strenuous. Start at the far end and finish by walking down to the “Big Wave Beach” and have a snack and drink before taking the “private bus” back to town. Take subway to Shau Kei Wan MTR station, then “private bus” to trailhead.
