I'd highly recommend visiting the park at night. Get there by the Olympic Green subway stop on lines 8 or 15, or the Olympic Sports Center stop on line 8.

There are impressive buildings lit in wonderful colors, open spaces to walk, and lots of activity - people dancing, singing, etc. The Bird's Nest, the Water Cube, and the towers are the highlights. Snacks and drinks are available. There was no entry fee.

Important note - the lights to the Bird's Nest shut down at 9:30 the evening we were there.

Pretty well maintained establishments and facilities converted as a public square. Well maintained since the Beijing Olympiad. Popular tourist place. Wide and long walks. Bird's Nest, Ice Cube, Ling Long Pagoda (Media tower) and Observatory tower with Olympic sign at the top are some of the highlights which shall mesmerize many! You don't see even half of it if you do not see it after sunset! The lighting are pretty amazing - changing colors of the amazing architectural wonder the Bird's Nest, Different shades of Blue, Turquoise, Green light changes of the Ice-Cube, changing lights of the two towers, well lit walking squares, lovely lighting even around the nearby lake are definitely sights to behold for long.

The entire Olympic Park is now a faded, worn-out set of facilities. The famous Bird's Nest stadium sits dirty and dingy. Some nice lighting at night, including the Water Cube and the observation tower, but for the most part, this place has seen it's better days. Main reason to be in this part of the city is probably only if you are attending a meeting or convention at the nearby National Convention Center.

We travelled on our own, and visited the cube first, then we went to the birds nest and saw the VIP area, and then we did the birds nest walk at the top of the building. Although it was a smoggy day the views were brilliant, the walk is about 30 mins, the whole tour was good value for money but surprisingly little English was spoken however this did not mar our visit and all staff were very helpful.

We did a drive by. Our driver let us get our near a bridge and we went up and we’re able to see the buildings. Architecturally the buildings are beautiful and very creative and thought out. Would recommend going at night as I heard they light up neat.
