We stayed here for three nights at the end of a three week stay in China and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The non-smoking rooms are genuinely non-smoking! FANTASTIC service and helpful staff, coupled with an interesting location and courtyard design of the hotel made for a delightful stay. The water was piping hot, the air conditioner worked well, free WiFi and computer, complimentary water (and more provided at no charge if requested). It was interesting (and totally safe) walking the Hutong streets for a closer inspection of the real Beijing. We were given directions and Chinese descriptions of all the places we wanted to see by helpful - and it was really simple to hop on the train at the nearby subway and get around for Y2 p/person per trip. It's close to the Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple, Confucius Temple, Silk Market, pretty parks, palaces and much more.

Room Tip: Aim for a room off the courtyard... it's great to relax in.

I spent one night at the Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel. The hotel is located not far away from Dongsi subway station on line 5. My room was clean. It contained bottles of drinking water and tea (both for free) and a water boiler, with which I could brew the tea. In addition, the room provided a PC to browse the internet and offered other services. The internet was free with both, the provided PC and my own laptop. The room had also a TV. The downside of the room was that the room was a little dark, but this was minor to me. The breakfast is mainly continental with a wide choice. The staff spoke a good English and all were very kind. After I checked out, I could leave my luggage there until I left for the airport at 10pm without additional costs. The hotel arranged my taxi to the airport. If I will ever return to Beijing I will book a room in the Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel.

Like others have said, this is a courtyard hotel in the classic Chinese style, with red lanterns etc. The rooms are a smaller than you might get in a modern high-rise hotel, but with much more charm. All was very clean. Free wireless was working well. It can be hard to find the first time, but once you know the layout of the surroundings its not an issue. Short walk (5-10 min) to the Dongsi subway stop which is in central Beijing. Good range of breakfast items, both Western and Chinese.

The service from the staff is excellent. In particular, I'd like to thank Tency who spent hours on the phone with travel agents sorting out next day air travel for us! Well done, and very much appreciated. Couldn't have done it without his help.

This was our first stop in China and our base for touring Beijing. We have two adults and a 15 and 11yr in our family. We all loved staying here. The kids loved the Minah birds in cages in the entrance.the rooms were amazing with much needed air-conditioning. Bathrooms of a good standard, and added bonus was the computer with free internet in each room. The kids were happy with the variety of food available in the bar although it sometimes took a while. There were really reasonables bits to buy for gifts in the reception area.
The staff spoke great English and were so pleasant and helpful. We would definately stay here again if we ever returned to Beijing. This hotel is not your concrete 500 room'could be anywhere' hotel, it allows you to feel that you are living in China and staying with friends.

We had the most wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff is very friendly and service minded and they speak really good English.

The room was quite big and the standard was high. The bathroom was one of the cleanest bathrooms with the highest standard we saw on our entire trip in China.

There are two subway stations within walking distance of the hotel so it was very easy to get around to different things we wanted to see. The hotel staff were also very helpful when we needed to plan our sightseeing.

The two courtyards in the hotel are ideal for eating, drinking or just relaxing after a day in the busy city. The hotel also has a take-one-leave-one bookshelf where you can enchange the books you have already read.

When we left we forgot some items and the staff was really very helpful in helping us by sending these items to one of the hotels we stayed at later on our trip.
