beautiful old style hotel, famous fab decor, good location, felt like you were stepping back in time, huge rooms, bathroom was enormous - stank of smoke from late night hallway smokers

only downside was it was 39 deg outside and there was no pool, restaurant food was a bit bland but breakfast buffet was very good

Situated in a great old neighborhood, the hotel is nearly 100 years old and still nice. View out the window looked over an old neighborhood, watched it come to life in early morning. The room was very clean with toiletries, coffee & tea service, and bottled water replenished daily. Iron & board in room or laundry service available at great prices, just leave your clothes and form in the bag. Breakfast buffet was massive with different selections every day, great way to try the mostly Chinese offerings but enough western foods to satisfy. New to us: room card key must be in slot just inside door to keep electric on, a/c not on in cooler months - just open window.

Room Tip: With elevators higher floors would seem to be best for view of neighborhood

The hotel is old and a bit tired, but the rooms are clean and a good size. We found the beds a bit hard for our liking. Plenty to choose from at breakfast.
The hotel is well situated and walking distance to Tiananmen Square and other tourist spots.
Some good local restaurants nearby.

The room was clean - a few more lights would have helped a lot! Tea-maker is in the room you have to buy your own coffee. Wifi works very slow! Breakfast is a good mixture of Chinese and European. The location is close to public transport and one can even walk to the forbidden city.
Check-in takes a while and they are not very friendly - but you get all you need!
The elevator is very slow.
The neighbourhood is quite nice: very good food in the hutongs.

Good sized rooms. decent variety at breakfast. Close to Forbidden City and Tienanmen square. Hotel staff were helpful getting taxis and writing out desired locations for cab drivers in Chinese characters.
