Who doesn’t want to go to the Great Wall of China!?

We braved a 2 Hour drive from the coast to Beijing and then another two hours up to the Great Wall .

We had to climb several flights of stairs to get to the cable car. Even after we got off the cable car we had to climb several flights of stairs up to the great wall. These are not normal stairs—sometimes they are steep ramps and sometimes they are uneven.

We were very surprised to find out that when we went (April 2018) there was snow on the great wall. We had to buy gloves scarves and hats at the gift shop and spent over $100.

There are several places along the wall where you can walk that are treacherous, steep, and utterly dangerous. There’s one place we can climb onto the roof on a staircase that is ridiculously steep and only a few people bothered to do it.

So if you come bring your big boy pants! (Or big girl pants) My wife was able to do it all but some of the members of our party were not.

I don’t know if anybody reads trip advisor anymore so if you get this please. Click helpful. It sends me me an email and puts a smile on my face makes me want to keep review!

My visit to great wall Mutianyu section was good but could have been amazing if I would have opted for a private tour. I went on chair car to level 6 but was constrained due to time restrictions. I suggest going to level 14 on a cable car.

I highly recommend that you check the weather forecast if you visiting between December and April as you can see from the pictures it gets foggy and cloudy, in fact it was snowing when I visited on 03rd April , very cold and windy and unclear views as the best to see the stretch of the wall from afar distance which you will not be able to see if it’s cloudy, however still ok to witness the Chinese history of you had no other choice of visiting during winter , I enjoyed it but could have been better if it was warmer with a clearer sky.
