SUSU is one of our favorite places in Beijing. A great place to take visitors - very warm and great food. We’ve recommended Susu to many friends. But ... what happened to the service!? This visit - and our previous visit to the China World locale - were both extremely disappointing. Who is managing? We felt like a bit of a bother to the manager and staff- not at all welcome. Very sad, to be honest.

To toursts the idea of walking down an alleyway in alleyway in alleyway seems odd and when you are sitting there looking at the number 10 with no signage you will doubt, but step through and enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. An added bonus is that in the grand scheme of the city it is fairly close to all the tourist spots th intended visiting.

Susu is set within a renovated old courtyard Hutong home, named after a squash serving modern Vietnamese cuisine
that evening the restaurant was abuzz with a mixture of well heeled locals and tourist alike
The deco was modern yet minimal
Menu had all the classic of Vietnamese cuisine staples
all the dishes was well executed with minimal fuss
Stick to the wine list the cocktail was disappointing unbalanced also using lime cordial instead of fresh limes

This review is for the Guomao branch of Susu. Amidst many restaurants in the Guomao complex, Xiao Susu stands out with its refreshing dishes. The dishes are not over done with spices and sauces. The garnishes are crispy, edible and attractive. The service is quick and friendly. The only down-side is that due to the way the room is constructed (not the fault of the restaurant) it is hard to hear each other talk. Best to reserve a table. It is very popular!!

Susu is our favorite restaurant in Beijing - may it be going by ourselves for a date or with visitors and friends. The food never disappoints, great cocktails (try the warm ones!), the location in the Hutongs is gorgeous and the staff is very helpful. The food is ideal for sharing or eating individually. We always got helped by the staff to secure a taxi. Also suitable for vegetarians. At first the location might be tricky to find, but the search is well worth it. Make sure to reserve a table in advance. We would recommend it anytime!
