This hotel is a very basic little place to stay. It's clean and has the basics you would expect. The beds had really hard mattresses. This was problem at most of the hotels we stayed at in China. Very close to the railway station and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a soft bed.

This hotel is located near the East Railroad station. It has a reasonable good restaurant in the hotel, the staff speak English, by and large, and they are very helpful in arranging your trip in Beijing. There are a number of restaurant options nearby, and it's conveniently located as far as not being too far away from anything. Given that it's Beijing, the city is so huge that most everything will be a certain distance away from any hotel, but as taxis are relatively cheap (compared to NYC or London) that transportation isn't an issue. The rooms are clean and quiet. You should definitely book your room online, and pay for it in advance (print out the voucher), as this is by far the cheapest way to go. Even the staff will tell you this. I've stayed there for as little as $35 a night in the off season, which is a bargain in my opinion. It's near to the pearl market, the silk market, and the Tian Ya antiques market. You can get to the Sunday market easily enough, but don't buy anything there unless you are expecting it to be fake. There are no authentic antiques for sale in Beijing. Period! To believe otherwise is foolish beyond reason.

2 to 3 star hotel at best. Should be on the cheap side instead of mid range. Old and rundown and not clean. Great location is its only merit. Right next to Beijing Railway and subway. Lots of eating spots. Try Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel a couple of blocks away. Only slightly more money but heaps classier hotel.

Decent hotel. Better than a hostel. Don't count on English. Breakfast could use work.

Rooms were small, but clean and had all the essentials and were in a pretty good state of repair. Shower area is just a wee square area of the bathroom, with a curtain covering one side. You'll splash, and that's life... just use the floor mat to catch the run-off and then it's their problem to clean up. No fridge in room, but there IS an electric water boiler, a few free tea packets and some basic food and drink fare for cheap...ish. 1.5L bottle of water is 10 RMB. That's about $1.50 (US). Downstairs and literally right in front of the hotel is a market that sells the same exact thing for 3 RMB ($0.47).

Location... Hotel is right around the corner from Exit A of the Beijing Railway Station. To get there, go up the stairs from Exit A, make a U-turn to your left, go to the corner and turn right. Hotel will be about 50m down on your left.

WARNING: Do not make the reservation for any time before you arrive, worst case scenario. They say if you're more than 15 minutes late, they'll cancel the reservation. I got lucky and got rooms anyway. Just saying... be conservative in your worst case time estimate.

Breakfast: NOT CHEAP (about 50 RMB). Great variety... if you're Chinese. Not suited for the western palette. Fare doesn't really change from day to day. Only thing we found we could eat were some fried eggs (luke warm), fresh fruit (good), and white toast. The rest was all carbs and all Chinese standard meal fare.

This hotel is in a fantastic location. It is very close to Dongdan subway station, as well as Beijing central railway station.

Wangfujing Street is also about 20 minutes walk.

You can literally get anywhere from this hotel in Beijing.

The staff are very helpful and spoke good English.

The food in the restaurant was also good quality.

The hotel was also very clean.

Very good value for money.

We would definitely stay here agin.
