We stayed for 4 nights and loved our time so much that we returned for one day after our safari. The owner Bonnie has created a lovely, quiet setting that is perfect before or after a safari or as a home base for exploring Kenya. The atmosphere is so tranquil we all slept wonderfully. The gracious staff will make you a cozy fire in the evening and a basket of fresh fruit in your room. We plan to stay here now every time we visit Kenya. This location is close to the Karen Blixen Museum which is wonderful to visit. The Breakfast is simple which was fine for us. Next door there is a lovely garden buffet on Sunday's we enjoyed.

After arriving back in Kenya we transferred to The Karen Blixen Cottages, a place of beautiful peace and quiet. Our room wasn't quite ready but at such an early hour that wasn't unexpected... we didn't have to wait long though and we were able to go and have a relaxed breakfast beside the pool... the staff couldn't be more helpful and the coffee was wonderful. The rooms are airy and spotless certainly we slept really well here... a perfect place to either start or finish a safari holiday in Kenya.

I had looked forward to staying at the cottages for some time. I decided to treat myself and at $400 a night it should be some treat. The room was charming overall but filthy as was the pool. The furniture was shabby and not in a chic way. Most disappointing of all, the staff are wearing threadbare ill fitting clothes. So obviously the owners care very little about them. The staff obviously tried their best but need leadership.

This is a beautiful place and you can walk away not only with a full stomach but with paintings done on the spot. You can choose to dine outside under a shade of trees and watch birds singing. This is the experience i got last year with both friends and colleagues taking end of year dinner . The setting was just perfect with candles burning away, conversations flowing and mouth watering beef disappearing into our palates. The evening was well spent and I am thankful that I did not have to settle the bill.

Decided to treat ourselves, however found that - reputation far exceeded reality! No hot water on both days, after having asked twice for someone to see to it, breakfast was passable for an establishment a tenth the cost, and cleanliness suspect after having to have the bathroom re cleaned after check in.... Beautiful gardens and chalets are not a substitute for poor services! Will not be back.
