room was pathetic. dirty congested, there was no place to even walk around, the lock was not working. yet, the worst part was in the name of free breakfast, they just provided one banana, one cup of tea and one fried bread kind of thing. literally not worth. only good part was the free wifi.

Room Tip: the "room"s are pathetic, there are only 2 though. the dorm beds are still ok.

If you are not staying in the dorms, the twin private does not deserve $40. Common bathroom and toilets are really dilapidated, the entire hostel needs a good refresh (dirty walls). Restaurant is no good. The location is in a good neighborhood of Nairobi but has nothing more to offer.

Great location - there is not much camping anywhere in walking distance (20-30 minutes) to the central business district. Dorms seem nice enough, I did have an issue with mosquitoes last time I was in them (though mozzies are few in Nairobi). Camping is fine - there are a few patches of "grass" and cement behind the main building - not the cleanest camping grounds, but hey you are sleeping in Nairobi for 700KSH ($7 a night). Breakfast (banana, maandazi, chai/coffee) included in dorms and even camping which is really nice. FREE WIFI. Feels like a really safe area - multiple times I have stayed here and kept everything in my tent, and they do have a few safe lock-boxes if you want. Also have walked to bars in town and back in the middle of night (probably a bit stupid) but it's a safe part of town. There is also a cozy room with couches and a TV and outlets - there was some competition for these, it being 2016 and all. And, they have a bar - might get a little loud on weekend nights!

Room Tip: Bring a tent if you don't want to risk being with a loud group in the dorms.

Had a great time at Manyatta Backpackers! The staff there are so lovely: always ready to help you, making the place feel like home and they are really good in cooking the local dishes (their mandazis and chapatis were the best I got the month i spend in Kenya). If you want to use the kitchen is also open for yourself to cook. The place are cleaned every day and I felt comfortabel in the surroundings. Enjoying good company and a Tusker around the fire outside gave us many nice evenings there.

Was pleased with Manyatta backpackers. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Even arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the bus station when we arrived in Nairobi. There are no mosquito nets but we had no trouble with mosquitos (perhaps they are not as active in winter?). But the beds are comfy and clean.
Basically you get what you pay for but I would gladly stay there again for short visits.
