Reviewed 7 February 2016 via mobile

I spent 1 week in these apartments.
WIFI only worked the day I left.
Pressure of the shower is totally insufficient, some days only drops of water.
Curtains of the shower need a change when you see they are beggining to be not so clean. That is a cheap necessary expense.
You miss a simple bottle of water in the room on arrival. (The price of the room could be increased a few cents and have a bottle per day)
I left the room the last day and only 45 minutes later I realized I had forgotten in the fridge 5 new packets of ham I had brought fom Europe for a present. My colleague immediatelly drove there and after a long discussion with the staff they asumed they had already eaten it all. Honest people could have e mailed me and asked before eating it all.
Susan the owner (very kind on the phone but never saw her during my stay) should be more on top of this business which will lose customers even when price / rooms is quite good and should teach good manners of how to run the business when she is not there.
The security guys very nice and helpful.

We appreciate and are grateful to have been able to host this guest for a week. However, it is unfortunate that his visit coincided with a period when we had serious challenges with our Internet service, and a number of other issues which we refer to below and for which we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience to the guest.

Our Internet service which has been largely reliable and stable for all these years not only became terribly unstable but largely unavailable to this and some other guests. The owners apologized, informed the guests what they were doing to resolve the problem, and especially explained that the disruption was caused by circumstances totally beyond our control. Literally, it took like a week to zero in on the problem, which regrettably was caused by the unfortunate unlawful actions of a guest who tampered with our system, consequently forcing us to reformat the server and reprogramme all Access Points to guests' Studios, and even undertake a strenous check of all cabling to guest Studios. And as if that were not enough, but in order to be on a more sure footing, we decided to acquire and install a more secure network router as well as to implement a cloud-based Internet access management system for our Lake View Studios, which we believe is more secure as well.

Our Internet service is now stable, and we hope, more secure as well, although we cannot completely rule out unsavoury actions by unscrupulous guests in the future. While we provide free high-speed access to Internet to our guests as an amenity to enhance the quality of their stay with us, this service is accompanied by a number of rules and expectations with regard to Internet access over our network. Therefore, all guests wishing to access the Internet over our Network are expected to adhere to Acceptable Internet Use Policies, including not using our network to access objectionable or illegal content (as defined by the laws of Kenya), visiting unsavoury sites, and not engaging in online activities such as downloading videos and streaming music, since these activities could be a significant drain on our available bandwidth as well as an inconvenience to other guests.

This guest then experienced a low water pressure in his Studio. Lake View Studios water is supplied by Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company. Our installed water storage capacity (of 34,600 liters) is more than adequate for all Lake View Studios’ needs for several days in the event of temporary water supply interruption. The problem this guest experienced with low water pressure during his stay, for which we sincerely apologize, occurs when there are cuts in the Municipal Water Supply system, creating airlocks in the pipelines to consumers. This problem could easily have been rectified had the guest informed housekeeping staff that he was experiencing low pressure.

On the last day of his stay, the guest informs that after he had left his his room, "only 45 minutes later [he] realized [he] had forgotten in the fridge 5 new packets of ham [he] had brought from Europe for a present". 'His colleague immediately drove [to our place] and after a long discussion with the staff he assumed they [the housekeeping staff] had already eaten it all'. We have no excuse for this shameful behaviour by the housekeeping staff concerned, except to inform that stringent disciplinary action was immediately taken against the staff concerned. We have also taken the opportunity to re-acquaint all staff, including housekeeping, with our Lost and Found Policy, which is part of our Standard Operating Procedures on proper handling of lost and found (or forgotten) guest items, which includes the need by staff to make a serious effort to contact the owner of the property (by Telephone, email, etc.) as soon as a lost or forgotten item is found. They are also supposed to inform the owners. The same housekeeping staff were negligent in the proper cleaning of the shower curtain of the guest's Studio and it is also for that reason as well that they were sanctioned.

We stayed for ten days, and were glad we chose these studios on the basis of the quiet location and the reasonable prices. The room was smallish but not too small, with a small well-equipped kitchen area, plus a table and seats just outside in the luxuriant garden. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Parking was secure, and travelling to Westlands was easy and usually free of traffic jams. The neighbourhood is very pleasant, and offered some agreeable evening walks on the safe side of a guarded barrier.

Your review highlights key features of our Lake View Studios which are situated in a safe and secure gated residential neighborhood of Nairobi. Our gardens are lush with vegetation and plants as is our neighbourhood. As you affirm, we are offering quality affordable accommodation and value for money. All our studios are fitted with fully equipped kitchenettes and guests like yourselves appreciate this as it allows one to prepare her/his own meals and snacks saving on dining out all the time. As you say, we are conveniently located near major amenities and shopping malls; just 5 km from Westlands and Village Market, and only 10 km from downtown Nairobi. Welcome back to Lake View!

stayed almost a week and enjoyed my stay at Lake View Studios. The Naivasha is actually a one bedroom apartment, quaint and functional. The staff is friendly and available, and the position is close enough to Westlands through a road that doesn't experience ridiculous Nairobi traffic.

Some indications: Naivasha is rather cold... because of its position it doesn't get too much sun through the day and hence remains cold (but fresh in summer i guess!).
DSTV: as I mentioned with other facilities, if DSTV is offered with the basic package, then just get Zuku! it literally has a bunch of channel and none are interesting aside the news one. Dogs: they are right next to the apartment and can get annoying may be moving them is an option you want to consider !

Aside these minor setbacks definitely a recommended place for your stay in Nairobi.

Appreciate your positive review and recommending Lake View Studios to other travelers. Each of our studios is designed with its own character and convenience. The pleasant outdoor seating area by Naivasha studio gets sun from morning until afternoon weather permitting. You happened to have stayed during a rainy period! In the cold season (June/July) we always have extra blankets available for guests.

The DSTV package has 60 channels. Longer staying guests can opt to top up to another package if they like. Our dogs bark exceptionally when there is something on the opposite side of the property (Nakuru street, a side street off Lake View Drive). We suspect you were hearing the neighbor's dogs and we will look into this.

I have stayed at Lake View Studios 4 times, and it is the best value for money and the most convenient Guest house for me. The staff of Lake View is always very helpful and nice, the room are in Excellent conditions and well equipped, the location is good, close to lake view Estate and not too far from town, but you still need a taxi. I will go back without hesitation

I would like to rate this property as good but there isn't a category for that. It's better than average - but not very good for our visitors! Some suggestions: Although basically good value for the money, there are lots of cats all over - meowing, fighting and quarrelling. This was distracting and not good for some of our visitors who stayed at the Studios. It is also quite noisy as it shares a boundary with a popular restaurant that often hosts weddings and evening parties. It would be nice to have a small packet of tea or coffee in the room as a welcome! For our visitors, and we imagined many visitors, the cooker is not necessary - it would be so nice to have a microwave instead!

Room tip: Choose one of the rooms facing the front of the property. The bigger room, facing the back, is quite cramped with a very small bathroom, strange little entrance, etc. But the rooms in the front are very nice.

Thanks for your review and suggestions. Lake View Studios are part of the iKWETA brand of tourism products and services promoting affordable safari luxury and value for money in environments noted for natural elegance, style and convenience. As you point out, there is a restaurant nearby which hosts certain social events from time to time, including weddings. While many of our guests appreciate being close to such an amenity, the neighbourhood residents' association as well as the concerned government authority (NEMA - National Environment Management Authority) insist that noise is restricted to acceptable levels during such functions. Our studios are self-catering and guests book the studios knowing that they are self-catering, and it is what most guests seem to prefer - since it keeps the rates affordable.
