First things first,in our experience,Luxor is safe for tourists and the people of Luxor need tourists back again. Direct flights are once again running from Gatwick. We only stayed a week in what is out of season for Egypt the, middle of summer with temperatures hitting 50,s. So we were the only guests in the cleopatra for most of the week. If you want to be insulated from Egyptian life in an expensive Hotel then don,t stay here, but if you want the real experience this is very good. For a reasonable price you get a good safe air conditioned room. You are not right on the Nile ,but in a real Egyptian village on the West Bank with views overlooking agricultural land and Valley of the Kings. The ferrry to the East Bank is walking distance away. They do a good Breakfast here and the staff are freindly and helpfull. Owner Nasir will arrrange most things ,including chasing up lost baggage at the airport and making sure your transfer picks you up. We did an early morning (to beat the heat) Donkey ride (and walk) adventure over the cliffs behind the valley of the kings and Hatchputs temple. Also an amazing baloon ride, you must do that, they are very proffesional. All this arranged by Nasir who we would like thank along with his staff for a memorable stay.

Dear valued customer,

Thank you for your review of Cleopatra Hotel Luxor. Even though our hotel is located in a quiet area at a one minute distance from the main road in the West Bank, we are sorry to hear you found it crowded and isolated. Regarding the food, we take your feedback seriously and we will do our best to improve the quality of our food. We hope we will be able to get one more chance from you on your next holiday to Luxor so we can welcome you again.

Owner Nazism helped us arranging trips and buying bus tickets, giving info about other hotels in Dahab. Very helpful friendly staff. Very good breakfast! Big clean rooms in the middle of the village. Quiet area. Fridge, TV, Hot Water. We did not get any housekeeping during our stay. Do your own trip to Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple. If you do not have any big luggage you can walk to the ferry and go all the way from there to Train station in the other side by walking. We went all around the city over the bridge to Train Station by taxi recommended by Nazism but we should have done our own way by walking and taking public ferry. We had small bags but it was nice to see the whole area!

If you want an authentic taste of Egypt this is the place for you. Built in a local residential area on the West Bank you can hear donkeys, camels, chickens an pigeons from your tiny balcony. The rooms were clean and pleasant. Everyone concerned with running the hotel provided a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, I felt more like family member than a tourist. I had an individual trip to the Valley of the Kings on a donkey and to a monastery on the back of a motorbike, not bad for a retired headmistress!

Room Tip: Do not judge this hotel by bland western standards, it has much more characte.
