Abou Shakra restaurant is a hop skip and a jump from the Great Sphinx and the Giza Pyramids complex. Its just across the road actually. Try an Egyptian Yogurt Cucumber Dip with your Egyptian Baladi Salad followed by Lentil Soup with an Egyptian Mombar. For your main course why not try the Creamy Chicken Farfalle or perhaps something from the grill like Grilled Beef Fillet or if you are super hungry what about a Royal Abou Shakra Mixed Grill enough for 3 - 4 persons. Then for desert try the Egyptian Mahallabi washed down with Turkish coffee. I guarantee you won't be able to walk after this encounter at the Abou Shakra. Go straight upstairs and if you are lucky Mohamed, Samel and Mahmoud will attend to you every need.

This was a nice spot for delicious Middle Easter/Egyptian food. You go for the view on the second floor, but it's very popular. The menu seemed to be set for the day - we got what they deliver, but it was a great assortments of meat, mixed vegetables and a pyramid of rice! I would recommend, but best to have reservations since it was very popular more with locals than tourists, which surprised me, considering the location. Our selections was about $10/plate.

As has been stated by previous reviewers, terrific views of the pyramids. Try for a spot upstairs and close to the window.
We found the service to be very good.
Food is also very good. We had several appetizers and all were good. Followed up with a mixed grill and rice in the shape of a pyramid. Also good but we were stuffed and had to quit before finishing everything.
No alcohol, but try the mint lemon juice. Excellent!

The food was good but not exceptional, service OK and friendly but when the bill arrived it was frankly outrageous. 3 EGP for cover charge + 12% service charge which doesn't go to staff (why?!) + 14% tax + tip actually for waiters. This is frankly outrageous and not how you do business.

Thank Fnoops
