I last visited Cairo in 2005, and had been reluctant to return given the political environment. This last year I went to a King Tut display at the St. Louis Science Museum and it rekindled my love of ancient Egypt....thus my journey began.
Since I am a Marriott Platinum member, I knew my stay would be at a Marriott property. When I saw that the Nile Ritz Carlton was next door to the Egyptian Museum, the hotel was selected. It also helped that the reviews on TripAdvisor were so good. The hotel did not let me down. We had a lovely room overlooking the Nile. The room was modern and clean. Housekeeping kept it that way throughout our stay. I want to especially point out Mohammad of the nightly turn down service. ALWAYS made sure we had everything thing we needed and went the extra mile.
All of the hotel service costs were very reasonable...the laundry, restaurants, and bar. Well below what we normally pay at Marriotts. The dessert shop was of course my favorite. Everything was great.
Take my advice....travel to Egypt. I was never concerned with my safety. Take my further advice and stay at the Nile Ritz Carlton. Step outside its doors to the Egyptian Museum and the vibrant Cairo!
