The 6th of October Bridge is a major feature in the traffic flow in this mega city. A huge construction that carries millions of cars, it is definitely one of the infrastructures that make life and commuting in Cairo less chaotic than it currently is.

Without this bridge you would not be able to go from one side of Cairo to the other unless you take the ring road. Of course this bridge was done and finished long before the ring road. The Sixt of October Bridge saved all of us living in Cairo, though it is always congested, it just goes to prove how could all these cars have moved both ways without it? You cannot avoid taking the bridge, but need to chose the time of day and days of the week you are going on it and in which direction as it can be tricky.

On our recent trip to Cairo we drove under and over this bridge. There isn't really much to say about it other then the traffic is horrendous.

This review is quite late. The 6th of October Bridge is a busy bridge connecting Downtown Cairo to Gezirah Island. We walked through this bridge at night in heavy traffic after visiting Cairo Tower, The Opera House and Gezirah Garden. This bridge gives a good view of the Nile River. We saws some couples watching over the Nile River from the middle of the bridge.

Just a regular bridge, too much traffic!! Buses and taxis pull over and stop in the middle of the bridge so that clients get off and create a huge hazardous traffic!!!
