We stayed here for three nights in March 2010 and enjoyed the place very much. The hotel is located centrally in Cairo, in a relatively quiet and upscale area of Zamalek. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well decorated. We found the staff to be very friendly, and would also recommend the airport transfers that are offered.

I give small deductions because the breakfast buffet was not well stocked anymore when we got off to a late start at 8:30 once; and the location is central, but can suffer badly from traffic jams, especially when headed for the airport.

We just returned from Cairo having spent 6 nights in hotel Longchamps. This hotel is a true oasis in the hectic and busy Cairo. One can feel really relaxed there after a long day of walking and sightseeing in Cairo. The hotel is situated in Zamalek, which is probably the best and most peaceful area in Cairo. The room was very clean and the breakfast was good, offering a wide variety that can cover almost every taste. The staff is great and very helpful, showing real interest in our experiences there and providing helpful tips of do's and don'ts in Cairo. What was really important for us and one of the criteria we based our hotel choice on, was the Internet connection, as we had to keep updated with our jobs. Wifi was great! So, we would highly recommend this hotel and we look forward to returning there one day!

We spent a total of 4 nights at the Longchamps on our recent visit to the MIddle East -- 2 nights on each end of a Nile cruise. We loved almost everything about the hotel -- excellent service, good breakfasts, wonderful location, funky atmosphere, etc. Our only problem was getting some sleep. We were at the back of the hotel the first two nights and the room was relatively quiet; on the second night, however, the smoke detector started beeping every few minutes from about 2:00 a.m. on. In our opinion, it is unforgiveable for a hotel not to have its smoke detector batteries replaced on a routine basis before they ruin a night's sleep. We were in the front of the hotel the next two nights and the noise was so excessive, even with all of the windows closed, that restful sleep was next to impossible. By all means stay at the Longchamps Hotel -- it's got a lot going for it. But insist on a room at the back or bring your ear plugs.

This is an affordable accommodation option in Zamalek, Cairo. It used to be even better value, but prices have recently one up. The rooms are large and each has its own character. The layout and dcorations in the rest of the hotel give it h a homely charm that distinguishes it from the rather sterile hotel chains. The staff are friendly and helpful. Gabi at the front desk speaks excellent English and German. Catching a taxi to the pyramids, Egyptian Museum and Al Khalil from here is easy and cheap - just ensure that you get a white metered taxi to avoid being ripped off or spending half a day bargaining with the driver, There are plenty of nice restaurants near the hotel. We weren't very impressed with the Longchamps' dinner options, but included breakfasts are good and will keep you going until lunch time.
