On our first day in Cairo, our tour guide took us to Saqqara, Memphis, Giza (Pyramids and Sphinx). In between, he took us to a papyrus shop and a perfume shop.it was one of my best experience.

In order to understand how the pyramid structure was derived, it is imperative that one see this step pyramid first. It is no secret that the ancient Egyptians were fixated with notions of death and afterlife...and the most wonderful things that they built were around that. This pyramid is the beginning of all of that...

What's more- the museum is actually at par with some of the international museums (unlike the Egyptian museum) and explains a lot in detail. The exhibits they have give a lot of insights into the daily life of ancient Egyptians...definitely not worth missing!

The complex includes the step pyramid, the areas where a chosen king would be purified and celebrate his/her selection, a reconstructed gate with amazing palm ceilings. Nobles and children chose also to be buried here in the hope of continuing to serve the king in the afterlife (and to share in the life style of the king). There are several pyramid "failures" in the complex, and at least two tombs with incredible carvings and colors.
