Great place to see how local vendors sell souvenirs, silver, gold, spices etc... it is very busy and you will need to be oriented on puzzle walkways. Of course bargain your prices.

Though there are many shops to choose from, the shop owners have no dearth of customers and are thus unwilling to bargain. We thus ended up paying quite high prices for items we had seen at much lower rates in places like the Luxor market. You will be charged a high price for pretty much everything. Be sure you are not buying poor imitations of items like the mother of pearl boxes. Also beware of pickpockets and do not venture into the by lanes.

This is NOT an authentic bazaar experience, one that you read about in the books or the vision of which takes you to your Aladin or the Prince of Baghdad video games.
The stores are littered with china-made souvenirs, the people are not to be trusted with their stories of how the products were made, the cafes are unhygienic...so yeah, enter at your own risk!
We didn't want to risk catching an infection or, buying a worthless piece of Chinese junk, so we ended up walking amidst the hoards of people haggling over few pieces of rubbish, soaking in the nicotine-drenched air and brushing off the store-pimps who will typically pose as a "student learning english" or "helpful local"...

Not good for shopping, everyone pulls you to their shops. Be aware of pick pockets and do remember to bargain a lot
