The area around this hotel is full of wonderful architecture and character, with some beautiful mosques and unique medieval buildings and this hotel is the perfect place to stay to explore that.
The decoration of the hotel is excellent and it is clear that the designers have thought of everything to create a fantastic atmosphere. We stayed in the "Calligraphy" room, which was beautiful and the artwork was a nice touch. The hotel staff were really friendly, speaking to the taxi driver to provide clearer instructions than my Arabic could manage and they also provided a lovely birthday cake as it was my girlfriend's birthday.

This hotel is to die for. We were mesmerized by the medieval architecture of the surrounding neighborhood and could have spent days just wandering the streets of old Cairo. The interior design is magnificent.

There were two things that would have improved our stay: coffee at breakfast and a drink in the evening. Breakfast, in general, was not this hotel's strong suit. It was a bit slow and they were out of coffee when we stayed. The closest place to purchase wine or beer is a 10 minute walk away.

LeRiad hotel is located in the center of Elmoeze street ( the open islamic musuem) after being rejuevenated. You may miss the entrance of the hotel but once you are in you will see, feel and smell the history. Rooms furnitur are so oriental and luxurios. Decoration are marvellous. Even Bathrooms had the oriental spirit.
The hotel really met our demands of the stay, decoration and food.
It gave us the opprtunity to move around in khan elkhalili, enjoying the history and buying a lot of gifts.

Wonderful hotel in the hustle bustle part of old Cairo, near some of the beautiful mosques and close to Al Azhar mosque. The street markets are charming, lots of quaint cafes.
The famous Naguib Mahfouz cafe is a short walk away.
Although we were there in the month of Ramadan, it was no problem.
The hotel is quirky yet typically Egyptian. The rooms are all eclectic and decorated in different styles.
The breakfast was fabulous and the service polite and faultless.

Room Tip: My room was called Cinema and had posters of Egyptian film stars of days gone by.

Le Riad is a small beautiful boutique hotel. Don't let the outer impression put you off. It is really like opening a gift, the wrapping might be dull but the inside is a big surprise. The interior of the hotel is beautiful and tastefully designed with oriental style. Apart of the room we love the breakfast/lounge area. It really makes you feel like at home. The staffs are friendly and helpful. In the room you got nearly anything you need. The hotel pays attention of small details what a guest might need - the amenities and the room facilities. The free wife is fast and we got even a laptop in the room.
The hotel is located in a very busy area of the Old Cairo. It is closed to Citadel and the mosques. Khan El-Khalili Bazaar is only 2 minutes walk (the main reason we chose this hotel). If you intend to explore the Old Cairo, then this hotel is the best choice. We definitely recommend this hotel.

The only drawback is to get to the hotel. On the date we checked in the street in front of the hotel was closed for cars due to security reason. Our taxi could not drive in and we had to walk from the Citadel gate. It's not far but it's the Old Cairo part with bumpy paved-streets and very busy during the day. Lucky we got a lift from the street service. It's a golf cart. This service is not from hotel and doesn't have certain schedule. You just have to wait until it turns up. Too bad as we checked out we didn't see golf cart. We had to walk with our luggage which are not stoned-street friendly. Other than that everything was fine.
