I stayed here for two weeks in November 2011 - overall, the service was good at the hotel, but I had a number of things stolen from my suitcases. The restaurant was ok, though the service was terrible - it was as if I was being a pain to the waitresses by ordering food! There was good wifi, but there were regular power cuts. This hotel used to be security-cleared by the UN, but has been removed off the list due to some security issues, including the regular thefts and one case of a guest being mugged right outside the door while the security guard just looked on.

Poor services and theft within the organisation. They also wouldn't negotiate their prices compared to other hotels.Restaurant and bar is very beautiful and the food is excellent however I did find some stain Marks on the bedsheet in my room.

Our organisation stayed for the second time at the Fontana hotel (currently called 'Ave Maria' after a change of ownership). This time, a big amount of money was stolen from our room without any traces of burglary on the locks. The police inspector of Gombe area came to do a research and it wasn't the first time there was a theft. It seems there are still keys of certain rooms in the hands of people who shouldn't. The police accused the owner of not being cautious enough since the last case.

Although theft can take place in many hotels in Africa and I probably should have been more careful, the way that the manager treated the issue was highly unfriendly, unprofessional and offensive. Therefore, my advice would be to not choose this hotel during a stay in Kinshasa.

Kind regards,
Gaston

Built like older hotels in Paris but with larger rooms. Decor is similar to older motels in southern Florida. Inside restaurant is good for breakfast/dinner, restaurant in the back is good for dinner. Both have reasonable prices. Water in pool is a shade of green so would not swim in it.

Much more secure than most people think. Some international workers stay here, as well as some visiting military and officials. Some rooms (but not all) have musty smell often found in humid climates, so bring an air freshener with you. Good supermarket within walking distance.

A hotel that survives by lack of competition. Very simple and basic set up. Try your luck with the elevator. Indian management without training/manners. Did at one stage not honor reservation, but leased out to the next available guest. Rooms are clean, food good and cheap. Pool seems to be clean too.
