This museum was a welcome escape from the heat and had both New Caledonian and other Pacific Island exhibits which showed faacinating aspects of traditional life. There are many interactive puzzels for children, especially if they speak French. There are also full size reconstructions of boats, canoes, and a hut.
Reasonably priced and easy to get to on foot from the city centre.
