La Colina is a “ dream”. I truly hope that this description captivates the essence of this amazing place. I stumbled on La Colina Hotel by luck and chance, and oh was I lucky !!
I woke up one day and said I want to visit Columbia with my family! I had no idea that this stay at La Colina would be giving my children a worldly experience!!
La Colina is a beautiful, cozy hotel nestled in the hills of Bogota Columbia. It’s a hidden Gem . The entire hotel is filled with art by Francisco Ruiz .
The sculptures on display by Felipe Ruiz are truly a work of art . In looking at the magnificent sculptures . I asked whats the inspiration for the sculptures and then I was told the sculptures were made from knives and machetes. It’s amazing to see how art can transform a negative into a positive. My first glance at the incredible sculptures . I would not have guessed that they were made of knives and machetes turn over by the police.
The suites are just beautiful, they have an indoor/ outdoor feel that has lots of amazing art . It’s and art boutique designed for sleep . It’s incredibly comfortable and extremely clean .

I stayed at La Colina with my sons. They loved every minute of there stay . Martha the owners mother greeted us with “ Welcome Home”. My children gravitated to her . She’s truly a kind soul.
My older son of Latin decent, studied Spanish as a language. Martha made a point to speak with him in Spanish only, at the end of the trip . He was a natural! Martha, Federico and the entire staff treated us like we were their very own family.
La Colina was not only very diverse and rich in culture. The entire hotel had a very unusual feel. It felt like a “ dream”. The sort of place you read about in an old book that only few have had the opportunity to experience.
The breakfast is served in 3 courses . Each day with a new exotic fruit . The fruit juices with breakfast were fresh . We never got the same fruit juice twice. I seen fruits there that I never seen in any other country before.
Dinner is just magnificent. There’s no menu . The food is selected fresh daily from the local markets . The chef creates a meal specifically for you !!!!! The meals are organic, fresh, nutritious and food for your soul.
Dinner is a 5 coarse meal if you desire. You can dine in-front of the fire place with art, music, sculptures or outside with beautiful flowers, art, more sculptures, hummingbirds with an outdoor kitchen.
The deserts are decadent. Roxanna served my children with “ Tres Leches “ a smooth sponge cake with multiple milks whipped with fresh fruit and tea . I always knew when this desert was being served , the noises at the table spoke for themselves!!!!
There a rumor in Bogota Columbia that if you have not eaten at the largest restaurant in Bogota Columbia you have not visited Bogota. Rumor now has it, visit the largest restaurant in Bogota , then eat any meal at La Colina and you have truly embarked on authentic Columbian foods. To describe the taste and flavors I would say “ unbelievable “.
Federico Ruiz, the Co-Owner and Art Collector took me and my family on a graffiti tour. There is graffiti just about everywhere in Bogota Columbia. Graffiti was depicted in all areas including the most affluent neighborhoods. I personally enjoyed seeing “ The Kiss” depicted by graffiti and it gave me a new appreciation for the arts.
Martha, Federico, Roxanna, Estelle, Krisell, Elvis. Thank you for a phenomenal stay , the amazing food, care, education on art and culture. I so very much look forward to crossing paths again . It was truly an experience to spend time with wonderful people like you all!!!
For anyone looking for and authentic, worldly experience. You will not be disappointed . La Colina is a place that’s far outside the definition of the traditional hotel it’s a place to really have a magnificent experience!!!!!
