If you're looking for a colonial style hotel close to all must do sights this hotel is a great choice. We had a big room, very clean, with cute balcony. The staff is very polite and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. WIFI works well. I recommend it.

We just spent 3 days at Hotel de la Opera, as our last phase of a month long trip. The hotel was perfect for our needs. The location cannot be beat. Great restaurants within a couple of blocks. Easy walk to museums. We somehow landed a room on the 7th floor which had a wonderful view and very quiet. Staff was great, helped with taxis (even to the salt cathedral, cheaper than using a tour arranger), location of things we needed like atm. Breakfast was a little off our American expectations but really can't complain given the cost. We thought the hotel was beyond our expectations.

A colonial style hotel in the heart of the Candelaria district.
It is right next door to the Opera House. We were lucky enough to watch Ottello there one evening.
The hotel is very clean and efficient. Ammenities are not that great but very adequate.
The morning breakfast is delightful, and the hotel is in the center of the Candelaria district which makes your walks very pleasant. The district is very close to many museums, restaurants, bars, shops and much more.

Room Tip: Room 211 has a private balcony. A new modern wing exists which might be good for businessmen but definitely not for the touristic traveller.

What a charming hotel. It is next door to the opera, and right in the center of the Candeleria. The only area of Bogota that I would stay in. Everything you want to do is in walking distance. The rooms are clean and sweet, I will be back

We certainly did not want to stay in a sterile, bland and basic hotel that could have been in any major city. We wanted a taste of Bogota and so we opted for Hotel de la Opera and boy are we glad we did. We had a huge corner room with a huge adjoining room to accompany our family. The windows and outside walkway (around the corner) was too cool, the bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly and were patient with our two boys playing in the pool.
The character of the old hotel helped soften the good, not great breakfast and the weird placements for the light switches. We were safe and comfortable in our little piece of Bogota history.
(We did not have a car and therefore have no idea where any parking might have been.)
We will stay here again.
