We arrived at “Punta” at the most inconvenient time of 2012. There was a wild weather storm that interrupted our holidays for an entire day. It was around 3pm in the afternoon and we arrived safe to this hotel. Actually, Bravamar is excellent well located in front of the beach and one block from the main attraction of this city “Los Dedos” (a big sculpture of a hand rising from the sand).

Once you get into this hotel you will notice that it’s very old fashioned (kind of a 70´s hotel) with a nice and cooperative staff that helped us ordering a meal while the storm made us impossible to get out of the hotel!!! (it was that bad).

Due to this extreme bad weather we had no internet access (they have it, though), no cable (they also have one), but we had at least power and hot water.

For a double room we paid 60 dollars (you may think it’s expensive) but for Punta del Este standards, this was one of the cheapest and best located ones. The bathroom was ok .

We slept in a very dark and bland bedroom with basic comforts without any good looking view from our window, so that was pretty depressing considering the bad weather and zero amenities during that day.

We weren’t waiting for anything amazing in this hotel, so it was OK for us, but if you are looking for something more “eye catching”, comfortable and bigger, you should look somewhere else …also if you wake up in the mornings with a big appetite, go and look further, because the meal was very basic and poor.

We are looking forward to go back to “Punta”, but definitely not to this hotel. We want something nicer for a well deserve vacation.

Room Tip: Try to choose a room near the main street.

The hotel is situated across from the beach and within walking distance to the bus terminal. The hotel was clean. You could view the ocean from the breakfast area. The breakfast was nice. The hotel staff is friendly.

stayed there last year.just writing this because i am going to stay again and wanted to express how nice and conveniet, pleasant my stay was last year. very friendly and motivated staff, cozy, not 5star but inexpensive (paid 40 us single after the season) with very scarce (thats uruguay folks) breakfast (just 1 croissant ,counted butter and a horrible coffee:)) but overall a nice place.especially in horrible expensive urugay where 2 liters of coke cost 4 us in a supermarket and the average wage is about 300 us !!!
not a country to live but quiet and clean.
punta del este is nice, even absolutely dead during the week or after the summer season.
no way for any romance :))
or as we say in new york half as big but twice as dead as a cemetary.
make sure you have something to read and enjoy sunset from the breakfast room.
nice location, seafront. nice but old place. dont stay in the rear where they annexed hoirrible little cabanas to rip off summer guestas.insist on the front of the building...
free wifi !

This privately owned hotel nearly disappears amongst all the newly built towers.
Rooms are good and clean, the location is very convenient on the coastal road and quite close to the bus terminal (walking distance). The wide sandy beach is just accross the road. Although my stay was during the low season and the restaurant wasn't open yet, they prepared dinner for me every evening (and didn't even complain when I arrived late from my excursions!!), and the quality of these meals was excellent. Very good value for money - I appreciated the friendly personal contact.
Internet available.

We stayed for 4 nights at the Bravamar before the high season in Punta del Este. We were very happy to get a nice room right across from the beach at such a good price ($60 US), given the usual high costs in Punta. We had a clean comfortable room with a nice tiled bathroom with modern fixtures. There was a nice lounge area downstairs and a terrace upstairs overlooking the ocean. Continental-style breakfast was included. The staff were very friendly, but don't speak English, so it helps if you have a little bit of Spanish. The hotel is located on the edge of town near the bus depot. Restaurants are very overpriced in Punta, but Indiecito restaurant is close to the hotel and has better prices than most.
