At the end of March my wife and I decided that we needed a short break but where to go during April? We considered the Canaries but even there the weather can be unsettled in April and so after giving it some considerable thought we decided on Abu Dhabi, UAE, just a 7hour flight away.
In April Abu Dhabi is just coming out of their winter and the sunny weather and comfortable temperature is virtually a given. We selected a hotel (Etihad Towers) where we had stayed previously 3 years ago but this time we decided to indulge ourselves and we reserved a club room, for those not familiar a club room is a superior room with certain privileges and it allows club room residents access to the selective club lounge that serves a very extensive selection of food including a wonderful breakfast and drinks and snacks throughout the day. The service from the lounge staff could not be faulted they were terrific. Our room was situated on the 52nd floor and the views were breath taking. The hotel is located down town Abu Dhabi, close by the Marina Mall and is housed in the same building as the mall, “Avenue at Etihad Towers” and so is ideal if you want to buy something special.
At ground level there is a spa, an infinity pool and just beyond to the beach and clear blue sea, enjoy the beach and a swim and either have your lunch delivered to you or meander to the pool restaurant and enjoy a lovely sea food salad and a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc.
We were not disappointed with our choice of hotel or location and having visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai many times we consider the Etihad Towers Hotel one of our very best holiday experiences and one that we will be repeating in the future.
The best things about the holiday, the staff, the weather, the luxury and the comfort, the food, the refreshments and the all-round ambience.
The worst thing, as with all continuously developing holiday destinations there is a certain amount of ongoing construction works close by. This can be an annoyance, don’t let it detract from all of the good things on offer. There are good prices to be had if you shop around and barter with the agents especially for the luxury hotels, club rooms don’t always work out to be the most expensive considering what you get for your money.
My advice shop around you’ll be surprised what deals are out there.
Tip if you want to have a special meal try ZUMA, the Hotel Concierge will be able to direct you. Go at lunch time and try the Lunch time selection, you won’t be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you are an unaccompanied couple looking for a relaxing, pampered holiday reserve a club room.

We were privileged to go to Abu Dhabi and then to Muscat, Oman in connection with Americas Cup Yacht races. we liked both cities more than Dubai and specially liked the Jumeirah. We had a vast room on floor 40 with great outlook and impeccable service and overall facilities. Normally a lift up 40 floors is a bore but they were so quick one barely realised the height. The choice of restaurants was good and the man made beach fooled us perfectly and we thoroughly enjoyed it and the water. The set of Towers is a massive facility, hotel in one , flats in another and I believe another hotel in a third. The vehicle drop off and pick up area was ultra convenient and well run and the underground car park vast and easy to get to. Even a Waitrose in the corner with stock to suit various tastes. A charming hostess in the big All Day lounge cum coffee shop took us up the biggest Tower, I think 70 odd floors to the viewing deck. Breathtaking. The prevalence of staff from India, Sri Lanka and even Burma proved to be a real bonus. their attitudes were impeccable and made the Hotel extra special. But when having time off they can fly back to , say Kerala in about 2 hours so commuting every few weeks is quite feasible.
The hotel was a great experience overall so one cannot pick specially good, or bad bits. It all merged into a pleasurable and relaxing stay

They checked us in at 8am and even upgraded us to the 52nd floor, and gave us 2pm check-out which was really helpful since we had a late evening flight.

Very attentive, first the turndown service even after that they checked on us whether we needed anything else. In the morning they checked again, and replenished coffee, water, gave new cups etc.

Bed was heavenly, carpet was so thick it felt like walking on cloud. Their soundproofing (in our room) was amazing, couldn't hear anything from the outside.

No wonder they are a 5-star hotel and deserve this 5-star rating.

We stayed here on the way back from 3 weeks in Australia. What a lovely hotel, reception beautiful, rooms were of a high quality and very comfortable. Pools and beach both of a high standard. We had 3 nights here and what a great relaxing time my partner and I had. Customer service was outstanding and very helpful. All in all a very good time had. If you boom to stay here you will not be disappointed.

We stayed for 1 night in November 2015 and were in awe of the stunning views from the room and the prime location amongst the towering Etihad towers. We were especially impressed by the pool and gym facilities; watching the sun rise over the pool was glorious. Being in Abu Dhabi during the F1 weekend, the lobby was constantly buzzing and there were many F1 related events within walking distance of the hotel.
