We had a recent three night stay in a Pearl Room at Emirates Palace. Whilst the hotel is grand (and soul less) and the pool areas top notch it just is lacking in class.
The reception staff whilst efficient are very full of themselves and seem to think the hotel is faultless - when we had occassion for some minor complaints they were handled poorly.
Given what the Hotel charge both for accomodation and food and beverages I would expect better. The rooms are fine, but just fine and the food is just OK. All the food is pre-portioned and they are unable to make changes to orders, for example it wasnt possible to have the ravioli with tomato sauce instead of the sage and butter sauce which was on the menu - doesnt really inspire you to the chef's level in the kitchen if they cant manage that simple request.
That said the normal staff are very friendly, in particular the pool staff and restaurant staff on the mainly adult East side of the hotel.
The initial grandness of the hotel has worn off for me and now I find too many faults, so I wont be returning to Emirates Palace. The main reason we visit is the weather which is perfect in November - there is a new Ritz Carlton due to open soon which we will try on our next visit.More
