You can't feel the passing of time between shopping , viewing the fronts of shops , eating the famous ice cream of Bakdash . and finally watching your children feeding the pigeons in tha sequare of the Ommayad mosque which is next to the souqe .
It warths visiting

If you want to capture the essence of your visit to Damascus, you must at least take a walk down this road. Try to get the feeling of how the locals live, trade, and spend their every day life, or maybe buy a souvenir.
This is Damascus in all its glory.

I was in Damascus for a week in the summer of 2009 so a little while before the war, and in this week I went twice to Souq al-Hamidiyyeh, it's a beautiful place where you can walk around, buy souvenirs and enjoy locally made ice cream with delicious and unique middle-eastern flavors.
It is a relatively big Souq in comparison with the traditional souqs in the area like the ones located in Palestine for example, so wear comfortable shoes and take your time exploring the shops!

One of the best and famous markets In Syria, very cheap and a long list of things you can buy starting from vegetables and fruits, ending with hand-made syrian traditional things
