With the current crisis, the guests are now mainly Arabs; any foreigners are usually journalists or diplomats. I was the only tourist staying in this hotel and so maybe I got special treatment but the staff just couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming.
Because there are so few foreign guests, breakfasts are Arab only, although you can get fried eggs and I could get fruit if I asked.
The building consists of three old Damascene houses which have been joined into one establishment. It's been very carefully and tastefully done with lovely peaceful courtyards which were cool and comfortable even when outside temperatures were 39 degrees.
Its location is in the Old City, in a Christian area so you'll be wakened by church bells rather than a muezzin. It's near many sights within walking distance or a short taxi ride.
Highly recommended. I would definitely stay again.More
