In January 2012 we had two rooms for three nights. The Larsa hotel has a good location if you have a fly-drive. It is one straight way, it takes half an hour from the airport and it is close to the so called 8th Circle. In the area of the hotel there is nothing to do; for restaurants you have to go to the city center. That is no problem, from the hotel to the old city by taxi takes 15 minutes and costs about 3 JOD. The rooms were ok as for the interior. The only complain we had – we don’t know if it is a coincidence - was that in both rooms we heard our neighbours very well. In one room because it had a connecting door that wasn’t soundproof at all, in the other room we heard the neighbours very loudly by the ventilation system. On the other hand the Larsa hotel has sufficient positive things to mention, the interior of the building, free wifi in all rooms, a restaurant with good meals for a decent price and a cooperative reception when we had some problems to solve.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms with connecting doors if you need one room

Outstanding facility in the middle of Amman, located in a neighborhood of apartment houses. Breakfast was great--wide variety with middle eastern touches or humus, vegetables, etc but also sweet breads, juices, and good coffee. yes, it's included. Downside is that taxi service must be arranged as it's away from the city center. But...otherwise, I was able to cram scenic Jordan in 3 days with a friend's help (driving/tour recommendations). Went solo, and wow! Room was so spacious you can spread out. Clean and carpeted, which one should look for--at the end of the day, you want to take your shoes off and relax. Bathroom was huge--don't mind the small shower, though...clean and plenty of sunshine, granite decor...not too over the top. Staff is outstanding. WiFI in the rooms for free, but if you didn't bring a laptop, kindly ask the concierge. He can swing some time on the nearest desktop. No bar for you alcohol-lovers. Prayers in the early morning (0500ish) and no hair dryer, but no big deal for me since i had short hair. 2 beds, twin+, and heating was great. had a comfy quilt-cover that kept me snug. TV is good, flat screen, and some American channels. Booked this hotel blindly through Orbitz and give the guys 2 thumbs up for a great recommendation. For the $60 a nite, what a great value in this day and age.

Room Tip: ask for room 314...that was my room

Arrived with my family after 20 plus hours of travelling. Room was a bit small but it worked. Beds were comfy but after the airline seats this may be more of circumstance than anything else. Staff was very good and friendly. Breakfast buffet was a nice surprise and my kids were happy with it, so that is a big plus. The shower stall is a bit small but every thing was clean and worked so were happy with that. I agree with other comments that the public areas were smokey but that seemed to be the case with most of Jordan unfortunately. Yes, plan on the Mosque wake up call to prayer early. We liked that the hotel was out of the main city since we had plans to head out to the dead sea right away and see other parts of Jordan.

Room Tip: We asked for connecting rooms so either they don't have them or they were not available when booking 6 months out?!

Our group arrived late and the buffet dinner had closed but the kitchen gave us a lovely, plentiful meal with the best houmous I tasted all week. The buffet breakfasts were fine, if a little repetitive. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and the only free wi-fi of the week was appreciated. The public areas were very smokey, as were all the hotels in Jordan. The bar was almost non-existent. The bedroom was large, warm and clean. Apparently, not long refurbished but I am not sure where exactly. The water pressure in the shower was not great but of no great bother to me, as a shortie. No hairdryer but a few power points with UK type sockets. Oh, and the mosque is across the road so almost a guaranteed wake-up call at 4.45am! The location was a bit in the middle of nowhere. We walked to Mecca mall which took 30 minutes. I think that it was good value for a capital city hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the left of the lifts, as they are further away from the mosque

I stayed at the Larsa as part of a tour group and so did not source the hotel myself bu I was really very impressed from the get go particularly as the hotel was above our expectations. The rooms were clean and neat with fresh sheets and hot water. Perfect after a dreadful flight from the UAE. The service was positive, with friendly, smiley helpful staff.
Breakfast was good, plentiful simple and a nice variety of hot and cold dishes that were regularly topped up by the staff.
We didn't dine in, but did have a selection of bread and dips in the bar area. I can honestly say that the hummus I ate there was the best I have ever tasted!
The Larsa was a good walk away from town, but not a hike and it gave us the chance to explore a bit, although the area the hotel was in is pretty suburban so not a lot to look at.
A very positive start and end to our trip!
I travelled in December 2008 and am a bit delayed (obviously!) in writing. Sorry for that
