I stayed at the Hotel Zion in The Old City of Jeruselum, this review is given from a sense of spirit and soul. Is this a 5 or 4 star hotel? No! This is just an honest and objective truth, based on today's perceptions of what is grand with a hotel. However, here's where real honesty becomes my real review. The staff at the Hotel Zion, incrediable, caring, loving and honest. The rooms? Simple, not fancy, not updated, not your posh stay at some fancy everything perfect hotel. The beds? So comfortable, the water for showers? Plenty and hot. Where there imperfections? Many! However in my humble opinion, I came to Israel to experience the people and the places outside. I didn't come to hide in a perfectly manicured and updated hotel. I loved this hotel, I enjoyed my stay with passion because the staff treated me like I was part of their family, from the desk manager, to the service staff and right to the owner. Every single day my room was cleaned and stocked without exception. They also serve a great breakfast, Israeli style, plenty of food and drinks every morning from 8:00am thru 10ish... If I had a million dollars with me to spend on my next trip to Israel? I stay here everyday and twice on Sunday. The night life in the old city of Jerusalem is awesome and one you need to take advantage of, the street performers, the eats, the cafes, the coffee and teas, the sociability of the locals, why would you spend more time inside a room? When Jerusalem has so much more to offer? The Hotel Zion isn't a 4 or 5 star hotel when it comes to posh extravagant settings, it's in a building that's over 200 years old, it's got history and character and a soul to it, you can feel it. So if there were 10 stars to rate my experience at the Hotel Zion? I would give it 11! When the staff treats you like family and care about your time there, assist with setting up tours, help you with directions, know which room you're in, smile and make you feel at home? You turn around and review their home with integrity based on the love and respect they showed you with an equal level of truth and honesty. Thank you for making my time in Israel a time of real reflection and soul searching, you made my stay feel like I was supposed to be right where I was...There's a question of was this a midrange hotel? It to me was the absolute best bang for the buck hotel for the price point!
