Our tour group stayed here for two nights. The location is ideal right across from the old city wall. Food is fine - though not inspired! Rooms are decent size, and you should sleep well. We faced out on the street but had no street noise. Beware, there's no elevator from the street level up several flights to the lobby. And the one elevator that goes up from the lobby is tucked way back in a corner where you'd least expect it.

Room Tip: I appreciated having a room facing the street so I could wake up to the old wall as the first thing that comes into view.

Cross the street, walk a couple hundred yards and you are at the Damascus Gate of Old Jerusalem!

Are the rooms smaller? yes. Is there a possibility that you might get a room with a view of a filthy parking lot? Yes. When you take a shower, does the water run down the side no matter how you position the curtain? Yes.

That said, the rooms are very clean, there is "patio" area with tables on the 3rd floor that has a great view of the walls of Jerusalem, staff are friendly and helpful...and you never know, you might just luck out and get a room facing the Damascus Wall. No matter your view, the location is so very convenient!

We have just returned from a visit to Jerusalem and stayed at the Tulip Inn, Jerusalem Golden Walls hotel. Looks nothing from the outside on the main street overlooking the old walls of the city. Rooms ok, clean, staff friendly, food moderate to good. Alcohol very expensive. Jerusalem is not a quiet city and the hotel is well places to get about.

Once you get past the stairwell entrance you realize that you are in one of the best locations for a visit to Jerusalem, especially the Old City. Located directly across the street from the walls and a two block walk to the Damascus Gate, this hotel is a great place to stay. The staff was professional, kind and helpful in every instance, the breakfast food was good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. In addition, the wifi worked well throughout the hotel and not just in certain areas.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms facing the city walls are great and high enough from the stores at street level to be quiet.

Strange mixed hotel this one. When you first see the facade and staircase leading up to reception, you're thinking oh my goodness what have I come to? However the rooms are very clean and have been of late modernised. The staff are very friendly and cannot be faulted. However the food was quite average at best and poor at worse. Breakfast was in my opinion nothing to be looked forward too. Next to no hot food provided and overall boring would sum it up.

The location it must be said was very good. When you stood on the roof terrace (beside the old dirty plastic garden furniture) you could almost reach out and touch the old city walls of Jerusalem. You were also literally located between the Herod Gate and Damascus Gate which made exploring the old city so easy. Also you could see Gordons Tomb from your bedroom window which was excellent.

Overall quite a mixed bag this one. Great for exploring Jerusalem without a doubt, but terrible on food. Want my advice if you decide to stay here, go room only!!
