“Lovely views”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2011

I recently stayed at this hotel, which is in Eilat close to the border with Taba, Egypt.
The hotel is unusually set on the side of a huge rock which gives it very pleasant ambience. I believe the hotel was due to be taken over, hence it seemed to be a little in need of refurbishing. The rooms were quite spacious with lovely views over the pools and close to the border. This hotel could perhaps be a little out of the way for some tourists although there was a free shuttle into the town quite frequently and the various underwater activities are not far.

It felt like being in a hotel at the seventies. The rooms are stale. The bed and pillows feels like too many people slept on them.
The curtains of both the room and the show missing a few centimeters to be effective!
wish it was different. Bad choice for a weekend away.

I stayed at the Princess last year, it was my 4th time there. The value has gone down a bit but it is still much better than Isrotel. The management doesn't really know how to take care of English or American tourists the way that they used to. This is because of the young inexperience of the recent management.

There is beach and pier across the street where you can snorkel and swim. The pool while showing age is still big and spacious When you stay at the princess, you can focus on having fun, romance and the sea instead of having the hotel trying to push hidden costs on you. I would give it four stars.

We spent a 3 day weekend at the hotel, and had a wonderful time. The hotel is located about 10 miles south of Eilat, so is far removed from the noise of the city, and yet is only 15 minutes away by car or by free shuttle bus. The hotel is beautiful - the lobby, the dining room, the grounds, the pool area. The room we had was clean, nicely furnished, and what a view!!! We found the staff friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the room safe, and someone came to fix it within 10 minutes. We thought the food was wonderful, and the view from the dining room is spectacular. The beach is 2 minutes away, so you can swim, dive, or snorkel. The very large pool was clean and well taken care of, and big enough that it wasn't crowded at all. I really can't think of anything negative to say. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and would not hesitate to return.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2011

Stayed at the Princess for four nights in April 2011. The hotel is situated about 7 kilometres south of Eilat, just north of the Egyptian border. It is built in between two rock mountains (to the north and south) and borders the Gulf of Aqaba to the east. Its unique surroundings give it a tranquil atmosphere. The glass walls of the lobby and dining room emphasise this uniqueness, especially at night when lighting is provided to enhance the beauty of the adjacent mountains. The views from the room, lobby veranda and pool area were all exquisite.
You will need to take one of the infrequent busses or a taxi to Eilat if you are looking for shops, restaurants or crowds. Parking may be problematic, as the hotel's car park is small and is used not only by patrons, but also by others who visit the public beach across the road from the hotel.
Had a standard room which faced the pool and sea. Since the hotel also faces the road leading south to the Egyptian border and north to Eilat, there is a bit of traffic noise, especially at night and in the early morning, but this is avoided by keeping to the room's veranda door closed. The room itself was of good size, and although it could use refurbishing and renewing, everything in it functioned properly. The hotel itself shows wear, but on the whole is well appointed. The lobby has ample room, inside and on the veranda overlooking the pool and sea. The pool area is large and relatively well kept with a wading pool for children, a waterfall, water slides and an in-the-water snack bar. The hotel also has a private beach which is about five minutes away (on foot) at which snorkeling equipment can be hired. The hotel's spa facilities are good, and include a gym, a Jacuzzi and saunas. There is an entertainment troupe at the hotel in the evenings, but don't bank on it to amuse you an entire evening. Again, if you are looking for something to do at the end of the day, you will need to commute to Eilat.
The food in the main dining hall was satisfactory, although it does become a bit monotonous after a few days, and aside from a French restaurant and the pool snack bar, there are no other food venues in and around the hotel other than the lobby.
Unfortunately, service in the hotel's reception and lobby was lacking to an extent which is almost beyond words.
Upon arrival, there were long queues at the reception and many of the guest's rooms not ready till long after the 15:00 check-in time.
The waitresses in the lobby systematically ignore patrons, and if they do show any recognition of their existence, service is slow and the staff possess limited, if any knowledge at all, of the menu. More than once we were informed, after longs waits, that the items we ordered were unavailable, could not be prepared, etc. etc. etc. The lobby proved to be a totally unreliable source of food or drink, therefore, restricting the availability of these almost completely, except for at the snack bar at the pool, the main dining room or the pricey French restaurant during designated meal times. Since there are no other food venues in the hotel's vicinity, finding something to eat during the day may very well entail a trip to Eilat.
In contrast, the service in the main dining room during breakfasts and dinners was totally efficient.
Computerised lifts speedily whisk you up and down with little waiting time, contrary to many other hotels.
To sum up - the Princess has great ambience, good facilities, a tranquil atmosphere and is a very good choice if you want to be far from the crowds, plan to spend your time chilling out by the pool or on the beach, are not too particular about wear and tear around the corners, and are willing to put up with the poor to mediocre service at the reception desk and in the lobby.
