Description: Asitane has been the pioneer in carefully researching and recreating long forgotten dishes of the Ottoman Empire since 1991. The restaurant introduces new menu items for each season of the year, all dishes are delicately selected and cooked with seasonal ingredients and local produce. Located right next door to the Chora Museum where you can see the world famous Byzantine mosaics, the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner everyday between 12:00 - 23:30 except Wednesdays. While having your meal, you can also enjoy live Turkish music on evenings between Thursday and Saturday.

Awsome restaurant nestled in the back streets of Istanbul. The food is based on traditional old cooking techniques and the waiter will explain the history behind each dish. The staff is very pleasant and obliging. It will be an experience you will treasure.

Found this place searching through net and was curios to try the food.
Nice, clean place with polite staff and beautiful garden with old trees, next door is Chhora church with amazing mosaic.
2 starters, soup, 2 main courses, soft drink and glass of local wine, 2 Turkish coffees was offered by the restaurant, cost around 35 euro, which is considered expensive for Turkey, but not for the Europeans.
I will sudjest to visit this place if you have an ability while you are visiting Istanbul. You definitely would like to return and try other dishes.
Congratulation to the Chef and owners!

This was recommended both by guide books and a friend. We anticipated interesting skillfully cooked food. We got pedestrian, careless food.
Started with a selection of meze - four lumps of slightly different tasting mush. No flat bread just slightly sweet stale rolls.
My friend had chicken casserole and I had a fancy lamb kebab. Both were very ordinary - seemingly edible but not nearly good enough for a what is presented as fine dining
But what turned a flat evening into a horror was waking up in the middle of the night with a serious bout of food poisoning. It can happen in the best restaurants but judging by the careless, crude cooking this was down to poor hygiene
I would suggest avoid

The place is just next to the Chora museum. It serves one of the best tasting dishes in Istanbul. Great place to rest after walking around.

it is not easy to review this restaurant : the staff is nice, the place is very pleasant even if a bit off the beaten track (taxi is needed) and the idea of trying old ottoman cooking recipes is exciting. Unfortunately the result is not as outstanding as you could expect : it is certainly not bad and you spend a good evening at Asitane but is it worth going there ? I still don't have the answer. They give you a nice pot of jam at the end of the dinner which is a very nice touch
