A nice quiet hotel located in small street 15-20 minutes walk from Sultanahmet Tram Station. Good location but it's not ok if you have big luggages as the rough streets and you have to walk up & down hills. Breakfast is ok. They serve Turkish style breakfast buffet (cheeses, bread, jams, olive pickles, broiled eggs, sausage, yogurts, etc.). The hotel is quite old. You'll feel like you are in 1970-1980. But don't worry, it's not haunting. Everything is clean. All equipments have good maintenance. They provide towels, slippers, and some amenities.

I stayed at the Ayasofya Hotel for the second time in July. It was great to stay in such a comfortable place - the beds and even the pillows were wonderful. The room was super clean and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We could walk everywhere and easily hop on the tram. The hotel is very close to the old district's main sights. It is on a pretty street in a quiet neighborhood. The breakfast every morning is more than adequate and delightful. Gaye and Greg are very helpful regarding restaurants and places to check out. They are friendly and personable. The people who run the front desk are helpful and friendly as well. I will never forget watching the last few minutes of the Euro Cup with one of them when we rolled into the hotel after a very fun evening out and about in the city. I would surely look forward to staying at the Ayasofya again.

Room Tip: Both times I stayed there our room was above the quiet street. They were lovely.

I had stayed here 12 years ago and this time around the Ayasofya was even more charming than before. A truly enchanting place to stay in Sultanahmet, the Ayasofya is within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, and the tram. Gaye and Greg are wonderful, friendly hosts and very knowledgeable about restaurants, shops, and other places to visit in Istanbul. I appreciated their attention to detail, from our shuttle rides to and from the hotel, the clean and well-appointed rooms, and the delicious breakfast they serve every morning. The next time I visit Istanbul, I will definitely be staying at the Ayasofya again.

While we didn't see Gaye much, we spoke with Greg every morning at breakfast and he was very helpful and informative about things to do in the city. The room was quite nice for the price and had a very cool Ottoman vibe. Also the hotel was very conveniently located, within walking distance of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Breakfast wasn't amazing but other than that it was a very pleasant experience.
