This is a great hotel situated in the perfect position for all excursions into Istanbul's Old City- everything is walking distance (although it is also tucked away from the noise!) The city has such a great transport system you can get anywhere from anywhere- so if you want to experience the roots of Istanbul look no further for a hotel.

We arrived very early at the airport and even though check-in was much later in the day, the friendly staff let us into our room!

Gaye is simple amazing- she is so helpful, and being a full-on Turkey travel guide (turkeytravelguide.com) she knows so much about the city and was so willing to help us in getting the most out of the city.

Zero complaints.

Why 3 Greats - easy, this was our third stay in 4 years.

We were picked up at the airport, courtesy of the hotel and arrived late afternoon. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Gaye and Greg as if we were good neighbors who had just returned home. The apple tea was truly appreciated after our long 4 week trip through Europe.

With the current economic and political situation in mind we had no problems and felt very safe as we have felt on our previous visits to Istanbul. The hotel has all of the bits and pieces a traveller requires including fast free wifi, free breakfast to start your day and is very close to all of the "must sees" for a visitor to Istanbul. If you don't feel confident doing your own thing re sightseeing then the desk is more than willing and capable of helping you to organise sightseeing.

A great, friendly, home away from home place to stay which won't cost you a small nation's national debt to stay in.

Will we return, you bet and will be more than happy to stay.

Room Tip: We have stayed in different rooms each time and have found them all to be good.

Well located near the best Istanbul's Sultanahmet district has to offer-- Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome,Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar. The room was large and comfortable, the breakfast buffet very nice but best of all was that the staff was wonderful beginning with transfer from the airport -- a welcome service after a long flight. Helpful with suggestions for tours, where to eat, the best authentic Turkish bath, etc. Gaye, Greg and the team are wonderful hosts.

Istanbul was a fantastic experience, full of life, history and excitement. Gaye and Greg at the Ayosofya were both warm, easy going and extremely helpful with tips on places of interest and tours around Istanbul. They also helped with tours as we continued our trip around Turkey. Their staff could not be more pleasant. The neighbourhood of their hotel is an eye opener.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms are air conditioned and windows double glazed. No real preference in room selection.
