Description: Welcome to Albura Kathisma, a unique and beautiful Cafe & Restaurant located in the heart of historic Istanbul. In easy walking-distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace, our garden enters the mysterious Byzantine Palace that once stood here. Opened in 2005 in an old Ottoman family house where we are now, we offer cozy indoor and spacious outdoor seating, friendly and courteous service and, of course, delicious food, served all year round. Thanks to our success, Albura Kathisma has grown in recent years, but our passion stays the same: to provide our customers with the perfect experience of eating out in Istanbul. With a menu covering Turkish and International cuisine, we cater for a range of diets and tastes. Specialties include seafood and salads, traditional Turkish, delicious desserts, and vegetarian dishes. Our well-educated chefs and waiting personnel are happy to offer advice on your menu choices and personal amendments to dishes if requested. In 2012 we extended and updated our kitchen, also adding traditional elements: a large stone oven where we bake our own delicious fresh bread daily, and a charcoal grill to cook our selection of Turkish kebabs from different regions of the country -- a "gastronomic tour" for the kebab connoisseur! Open daily all-year round, including New Year, we are always happy to cater for groups, families with children, couples, individuals and celebration parties. We are honoured with all of the tripadvisor reviews you have written or are going to write. We read them all and are grateful to receive your comments, ratings and suggestions.

Enjoyed a lovely meal in here with my wife on a recent visit to Istanbul. The staff were very courteous and attentive and not pushy at all. Infact the restaurant advertises that it's a "no hassle zone". Yes it's very "touristy" and I'm sure you could get a cheaper meal of the same quality for less somewhere else but this is slap bang in the middle of where it's at. After our meal we were given a tour of the restaurants very own Byzantine ruins by our host. We were led through a small arched doorway into a darkened chamber and then the lights came on to reveal a series of recently (within 30 years) high roofed "vaults" that eclipsed the size of the restaurant and surrounding buildings in terms of size. The "ruins" are apparently part of a long abandoned and filled in Byzantine Fort that lay below the nearby Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and the Topaki Palace. This was a real hidden gem and one of the best "desserts" I've had.

I have been visiting the Albura Restaurant since 2010 and have always enjoyed the experience very much. The food is very good but the atmosphere is wonderful.
It is like watching a cast of characters in a theatre all playing their parts to the full.
If you want an enjoyable evening out with an excellent meal included then Albura is the place to go.
Thank you to everybody involved in working so very hard to create this experience but my special thanks to Drej for his professionalism, his constant laughter, his jokes and his friendship. Thank you as well to all his colleagues for their very good service. I can thoroughly recommend the Albura. You will not regret going there.

Ate here with our tour group. Well organized. Had eggplant purée with chicken. Highly recommend! Next night, went back and ordered take away pizza. While we waited they gave us tea on the house. Pizza was very good.

Located in historical Sultan Ahmet, the AlBura has a great atmosphere and delicious food with generous portion sizes. The team are very welcoming, we were served by Mehmet Drej who was brilliant. We were able to see the ancient cisterns & ruins located in the back of the cafe dating back to the early Constantinople era.
